Due to the new .link system the copy functions, especially the terrain material copy is broken. I have just repaired it but I will release when my terrain generation tool is up and running and bugfree (more or less, haha)
Wow super awesome, I am so hyped for this!! Looking forward to more progress, thank you so much for your hard work!
I guess in a week I have a new version for you. Just finished a copy forestbrushes feature and the "create level wizard" which guides you through all important steps. I love it that you can build something like this French coastline in half an hour: If you generate a terrain from a geotiff I export all the osm feature layer to a folder so that you can easily use the biome tool for layer which you didn't use as material for the terrain:
This is overkill awesomeness. Prepare to move to BeamNG headquarters soon. I have so many project ideas to use with this tool …
Why should it be rude to ask? What do you mean exactly? In the next update I will copy the .link files correctly (I hope).
I'm sure you all wait for my update with terrain generation. I really have to check some things before I release it. So patience is king. But I want to show you how a terrain can look out of the box with my new tool. Here is a 8k testmap based on south of france. I used the italy materials. This is how it comes out of my tool without tweaking anything in BeamNG. I just placed some trees with the biome tool. https://drive.google.com/file/d/17mpDZmq9-SQJYivzMuPHODqFC_Gk-XOx/view?usp=sharing If you get my masterspline mod you can load the mastersplines from MT_TerrainGeneration/splines folder in the map. https://www.beamng.com/threads/experimental-load-and-save-mastersplines.107762/ Just place the water plane as ocean and it really makes already some fun. Sorry, the old version of the testmap did not work. I replaced the link! Download again.
I do not know, I do not want to feel like demanding; but it feels natural that if your tool can copy assets from one map to another, maybe it could create *.link files to avoid duplicating assets from base maps.
Woah! I tried to load the South of France map but I guesstimate I really need to upgrade to 0.38 for it to appear. My external harddrive has arrived and I will be tackling the upgrade and Windows 11 ARM installation ASAP Looking forward very much to trying your tool when it comes out!!
Just tested and no terrain loading..map is blank with floating trees ... possibly my fault in loading?
Sorry, I uploaded nonsense Now it should work. It is even better because I can detect roundabouts now. New link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17mpDZmq9-SQJYivzMuPHODqFC_Gk-XOx/view?usp=sharing
The big update is there! I don't have a video tutorial right now. There is some info on the start screen of the app with a small tutorial how to do real life maps with elevation data and OSM integration. What's Changed Almost everything New Feature Create Level Wizard, which guides you through all steps of map creation New Feature Generate Terrain from GeoTiff with OSM Data or Oldschool with PNG files New Feature Copy Forestbrushes https://github.com/alexkleinwaechter/BeamNG_LevelCleanUp/releases/tag/1.5.1
WOW! What you've created and continue to create is amazing. I can't wait to try these new features. I just finished up my first "learning map" and am ready to start what I'd call my first real map. These tools are gonna really come in handy and speed up the tedious steps in getting going. Awesome work @AlexKidd71
Congratulations, I'd argue this is the best mod for any game ever. Incredible job man, can't wait to see what you do next. If you don't mind me asking, I heard you were working on spawning buildings, is it still a work in progress? Also have you thought about a low poly mesh generator working with the Geotiff files so we can have a "realistic" backdrop ? Thank you for the tool and making it free to use, if you want I'll share some maps once I'm done fiddling with it Cheers !
My first tutorial video for generating a real life terrain: --- Post updated --- Up to this point it was a lot of work, and yes the roadmap is long. - Buildings come next - Tunnel and bridge procedural generation is planned - Basecolormap generator for switching between paint mode with single basecolor and the generated mode for better blending of materials - Backdrop generator We talk next year, haha!
Previously with Blender and QGIS (+ GIMP) I had issues lining up the OSM road data and the cropped heightmap, but with this tool I can do it all at once. Thanks for the update!
Up to this point it was a lot of work, and yes the roadmap is long. - Buildings come next - Tunnel and bridge procedural generation is planned - Basecolormap generator for switching between paint mode with single basecolor and the generated mode for better blending of materials I spent tons of hours with qgis. That was the reason this idea was born. I thought this must somehow work more easy. --- Post updated --- But take care of your meters per pixel setting. I see 0.25 in the geo info but 1m in the setting field. I have to automate this.
