Sorry to bother you, but do you have any estimate as to when these features will be ready, for the purpose of planning my possible next map project? I understand if you don't.
I had to take a break. Next week I will go on. But I can’t tell how long It’ll need for the next version because I am working on a very different approach to get more realistic road smoothing done.
Hi, Alex! I'm dumb and pretty new to this, so I'm not really sure how to explain it, but is there a way to remove parts of a road so it doesn't get generated on the map? OSM thinks some private unused tractor roads etc are regular roads and they get lumped in together with other road lines that I want when assigning the terrain materials, and some of them go under the highway and up towards a mountain, which mess up the highway because of the road smoothing.
Have you tried selecting the affected highways in the Master Spline Editor and running Terraform? That should correct the flattening of the highways alone and overwrite the grading of the other roads. If that works it will then be easy to erase the tractor paths by hand. Just remember to turn the "domain of influence" setting way down because the default figure of 70m is much too high for most purposes and will terraform terrain too far away from the road.
Could this tool be made to work on linux? It crashes when trying to lauch it with wine. --- Post updated --- After installing WebView2 the crash stopped, but its just a white window. --- Post updated --- oh nevermind, got it working after installing a lot of microsoft stuff
Oh really??? I've tried on CrossOver Wine and never got past the white window stuff. Could you elaborate what microsoft stuff you did install? Gonna have a go myself
I think it was this: Code: winetricks -q corefonts vcrun2019 dotnet48 webview2 If it freezes, run this once in a second terminal to stop all processes Code: winetricks -k
Thank you Yeah I had corefonts and vcrun (and webview2 since Alex already mentions it) .NET wasn't on 4.8 Deinstalled, reinstalled/repaired BeamNG Mapping Tools etc. Still white window. Or something is missing or it might be due to the fact that I am not on Linux but inside some other walled garden
Can anyone help? Im attempting to make my own new map and I have everything done except when I go to export the terrain I get this error "failed to create terrain file: index was outside the bounds of the array". What does this mean and how can I fix this? Thank you in advance...
It’s annoying me too. I don’t know if it’s masterspline tool default behavior or I introduced this with my mod. I will take a look into it when I find the time.
It's default behavior. They don't go away and it you delete them any terrain textures they have applied under them go away. However, if you save and quit or reload your map, the spline will be gone and the textures / terrain changes will still be there. But there will also be a "shell" left in your scene tree that has nothing in it (which I just delete from the scene tree) I'm guessing this isn't an intended feature, but rather issues from an unfinished aspect of the game. I only know this because I haven't yet used your tool for the master splines, but have used the master spline tool in the world editor.
First of all I'm absolutely amazed by your creation it's incredible work. I do have a question thou: is it possible to create a map bigger than 16k by 16k pixles? I wanted to make a map of my local aria but the maxumum selecable size nastyly prevents the roads form nicely cloasing up in a circle by just a few hundred pixles and I know that the youtuber Skyfall created a map bigger than 16k x 16k using your tool am I overlooking something?
I finally have ARM Windows on an external SSD and your precious tool is running perfectly on it! Now onwards to my first smooth OSM-Road version of my favourite Mountain Pass … Took me an eternity to finally do that EDIT: Now I am so amazed by this tool Today I was able to import a GEOtiff for the first time and there are SO many features to assign It is absolutely mindblowing After 4 tries I already have my favourite road in the world in a driveable state in BeamNG. Thank you so much Alex!!!! Incredible, unobtainium quality world class work. I still can't believe how good your app is. I am eager to learn more and get trees in the forest, the road width exactly right, guardrails, the tunnel working etc. etc.
EDIT: Sorry for double posting … I confused this forum with another where post automatically merge. First time that I am able to paint trees in World Editor Thanks to the fact that your tool has already added all the materials and meshes and JSONs to the level
How Can I import 20Km road the maximum size i can import is 8k? Is there a way to join few parts together into one big map?
Are you on an older version of windows10? Then see trouble shooting in the first post of the thread. --- Post updated --- Not yet. BeamNG doesn't like terrains bigger than 8*8k pixelsize. I am thinking about generating drivable dae backdrop assets. But first I have to solve some basic problems I still have before I go on with new features.
Hey Alex I have one question: While making several attempts I noted an error message while generating terrain saying that the road incline of the tunnel is too steep. This year I went to the IRL location and asked my wife to film the tunnel for future references, and even though you can't see it very well in the video it first goes up and then turns downward pretty steep. So my question is would it be possible for me to edit some file and make steeper tunnels temporarily accessible? I initially thought that tunnels were not supported yet, only the option to skip terrain smoothing above them.
