Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Oh well, it was worth a shot. I understand though. I could never leave BeamNG's folding team.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. After a very long hiatus from folding. If I can get this old beast to pick up some units I might throw both gpus at your team for a bit to heat my room. Its about -45c with the windchill outside
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. my computer holds my room between 60 and 70f. Not too bad since I'm on a wall with 2 windows and all. haha ghetto heating is the best don't even turn on the heater in here
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. My computer is in the den, which is open to the rest of the house, so my "room" never gets hot. It would take a lot to heat my entire house with a computer Plus my computer has abnormally low temps.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Apparently there is new core_17 stuff in the works. I know not what, but expect some new/different WU's!
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. 3 things. First off, I am an idiot. I've forgotten how to log into F@H! I can't change anything about the team or even get into my account. I remember my password, but I cant find the login page! Derp. Anyone know where it is? Secondly; Thanks to EXT64 over at THG's team for keeping up to date. Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Backup has arrived. Hemi's rig, now with 20% less carbohydrates! Firing on all 12 cylinders: (imported from here)
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. exactly. He has nearly half my points but only less than a quarter of my work units
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. lol I know that feeling. I don't have $500 to spend on 2 Tahiti cards though. I tried part of a work unit to test my cooler and I was getting around 8k.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. The real ppd comes when you are running a 4p system with linux's special units. This guy has two 4p systems.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Linux has special work units? I could dual boot for that.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Well kinda. There are special work units for people folding with those 4p machines running xeons and opterons. Those work units are only available on linux though. At least I believe that is how it works.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Officially back into folding! Quiet and maxing at 72c
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. The 4P's running Linux don't have special units, Linux just has less overhead than windows and therefore a bit better PPD.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. I locked my F@H to my HT cores and it bounced from 5k to 8k ppd. Everyone should try locking F@H to cores, it might help.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. I have found it to not do much on my i7. But it helped a fair bit on my i5. YMMV depending on cpu ultimately is how it is.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Ahhh ok. I must have misunderstood what was being said in a thread I was reading over @ LTT forums. I just knew that somehow, someway linux was better.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Linux is less overhead in general really, much more streamlined than windows. Edit: seems stats servers are still b0rked, team page hasn't updated
