Oh. Mind@Blown to Pyro's stats, though.

Why? I'm pretty sure he folds 24/7 or close to it

It's really good to fold 24/7. I just calculated what my points would be if I folded 24/7 and it would be about that for the same amount of time. We must have pretty similar specs. Cause my CPU (i7 870) gets about 1.2 WU's a day, they hd 7770 gets about 2.4, so in 3 weeks I would get about 75 WU's, sadly my pc overheats. :(

I'm really not good at answering this, but here goes. Stanford college is doing medical research on cancer, alzheimer's and other diseases. But, instead of working on it with a super computer, they send out the work to computers around the world, resulting in a much more powerful compute network. Feel free to ask anymore questions!

Thank you for the answer, how do you help them? What do you do?

You download the folding@home client and process work units for them and send them back. WARNING: It will work your pc harder than it has ever been worked before. It will heat up, and it will be loud, and if you have a cheap PSU it will mess stuff up. But if it's a well built pc it'll help solve cancer and stuff! :D

Does it use CPU or GPU? Or both?

Both. It will also use multiple CPU's in a multiple CPU setup. And it can use more than 4 GPUs.

That would definitely screw up my PC.

It did mine, I need a new cooler. :I And I like your location. It's funny because I'm tall, but I know a lot of short people that would have that sense of humor. :D

Off-topic: Only 4' 7" here. But I am your age, anyway. I can fit under this door, also. 4360477705_fe60a99219.jpg
On-topic: My CPU is folding as of now, and running at 75 degrees C, with my CPU fan going at 3223 RPM.

    Pff, mid-high 70's. I'm at 65 on my hottest core while at 4.8GHz. :F

You're on a h100i. I'm on a stock cooler in a OEM mATX case. Good luck with finding me a quiet cooler that can cool my i7 870 @ 4.8! Thank you! :)

I using an Akasa Venom 4002HP-CCX(full size, something something), doesn't reach 50C with my 4.2ghz OC ;)

(Also posted on ROR's computer HW megathread) Today I folded for the first time in a week or so. I had left for 12 hours whilst folding, bad mistake. It went UPLS mode and the fans turned off, the only think keeping it from a 105c death, the thermal throttling. Luckily, it worked and it maxed at 93C. Hm. Now max load is 45c, I love this card.

Idea! Get a H100i and mount it, but putting the rad outside of your case, on a stand of sorts, like an open test bench. Kind of like this: bubbleawsome rad.jpeg

That was GPU, sorry 'bout that. Been looking at that though, but other things fill my budget. Like a hd 7870 for $200 and used 1080p + screen for $70 for my new house. Anyone got a screen? USD by the way.
