Hi, I was wondering about the best way to create a thick forest for my dragway map. I have got it looking semi-decent but I feel there are probably too many trees. I know it sounds kinda stupid but I don't want the map to run like garbage, even though at the moment it runs quite well.

Since you have no other replies... I think forest items normally perform fairly well, I wouldn't get too worried about them. Apply as thickly as needed and if it turns into a problem you can easily diagnose it by hiding the forest object. If needed they can be erased and re-drawn.. you'll probably end up doing that some anyway. ;-)

The official maps tend to use blockers rather than real trees when they really don't want the player to be able to drive through somewhere. Trees don't necessarily keep a player out, but the blockers do. If an area is fully 'blocked' off, you may then use a much more thin spread of larger trees - just enough to maintain a complete canopy.

Thanks for the confirmation, I was looking for another opinion on that, since so many people complain about maps running badly. I guess it's on their end for most of it.
