I noticed beamng is becoming really taxing for some computers, specifically my old crappy laptop. I came up with some lag fix ideas: Cars losing details such as interior, door handles and such at further distances and at speeds at say 80mph, when you can't really get a good look at the car Another detail is maps also losing detail at further distances and when behind the player, the map just sort of dissapears. Honestly I think this would be a good idea AI and stuff still follow traffic laws, but there's not a map except for where the player lookign
You mean like this? (sorry I don't know how to embed this type of media... so... uh... just click the link for the little video) https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-medi...ogressive,q_80,w_800/ucoln8kedwfglsrlxvm5.mp4 Also the interior thing might be a pretty good idea for traffic cars, but LOD's might already be taking care of that issue. (I said might as I don't know)
BeamNG has been getting easier to run over the past few updates with massive optimizations in lots of areas. Unfortunately there have been issues with some specific hardware setups (intel iGPUs, recurring issues with AMD drivers, etc.), but the game is getting more optimized. Maps do have LODs, although not as well optimized as they could be, they do lessen the load. However, I don't think putting LODs on vehicles would make much difference. Most of the load from vehicles comes from their Jbeam, not their 3D model, so putting LODs on vehicles would only have a noticeable effect of you had no/a very weak GPU.
