lol wut. Qa is just Steam breach that's updated every day. I don't get how that correlates with moderators
Yes it does. The QA branch are also community support (mod help, repo management, moderators) (I know all this, because I've talked with the. Irl)
He's probably busy modelling the Bluebuck. I see that the lack of community mods had something to do with The Drama that Shall Not Be Mentioned, but I do believe that there are a lot of people here who would be eminently trustworthy to be moderators. But I guess there's always gotta be that one guy, or those few guys, who poison the well.
Id love to be able to ban a few people, seeing the state of the forum right now i know a few who would get banned. but being a moderator isnt as easy as saying, "ill be a moderator" i wonder what would be needed to be a moderator tho, there are quite a few trust-able people on the forum that would be great moderators.
At least the first 5 pages. then after that, people were just giving all the attention and spam the captain kool wanker wanted. or whatever his name was
The reason why somehow solving this is slightly important to me is due to fact that most of the trolls are active while the devs are sleeping. The issue is that I also am online when it is nighttime for the devs. Every few weeks the whole forum lacks the ability to function due to trolls, which means that very few threads are active, at the same time as I am online. So the forums shut down often for me and a lot of others during the daytime.
I do agree with report and carry on, but it often takes hours for any response from the devs because they are sleeping and the trolling is coming from other time zones. I want to hear the opinions of @tdev or @Nadeox1
After every incident we have threads like this, repercussions in chatrooms, General Discussion, etc. Very rarely will someone 'report and move on', and there's always leftover stuff (such as this).
so we have to wait for a moderator to come on which at night takes hours, report, report, report, then no moderator comes on, until like 8am or whatever, if i recall a recent incident, a user made a thread and others spammed the hell out of it, i get it you guys are busy but i seriously agree with @Dummiesman WE NEED A OVERNIGHT MODERATOR.
Currently, we do not want to have people from the community to moderate the forums, we had very bad experiences with that in the past.
I like how people who shitposted and spammed the most are the ones giving us guides now on how to behave in such situations. If people weren't retarded that thread would get no attention whatsoever and everyone would've moved on. Instead, everyone kept posting shitty memes and commented about how cancerous it was (oh the irony). After OP stopped responding it was just a race to see how much shitposting could happen before any mod stepped in. I think that after incidents such as these there should be some form of aftermath in the form of temporary bans so even with no mods around, people won't stop behaving.
I didn't even bother to post in those threads, mostly because there wasn't anything meaningful that I could contribute to them. If there isn't anything to talk about in a thread, I very likely don't post in it because it isn't worth the effort to. Edit: I have calculated this tactic may reduce spam by 85% in the forums, since spammers and trolls often look to have big repercussions for their actions.
