This pre-dates the use of air brakes in trucks. It's closest counterpart(Ford Model AA) used Mechanical linkages to actuate the brakes(Not even hydraulics).
you can snap the driveshaft just neutral dropping sometimes, 90% sure its because its stretched and the axle rides higher+is stiffer (infact driving forwards you can see it bend)
Been outta state so haven't been able to work on it but after the holidays I'll definitely update it with a stronger driveshaft ^^
