Barstows lined up, painted the original parts, ready for restoration! The blue one needs new guts, the orange one needs it's back guts and the lime one needs it's everything. it is just a body and driver seat.

Well, here's a short novel for you.

It was the summer of 1969 when Michael Andrews drove home in his new Gavril Barstow Roadsport. This car was the best of the best, with is 423 V8 it was sure to out-perform any in its class. Michael continued to use this car daily, up until August 27th, 1974. Michaels son was heading to the premier of the new movie, gone in 60 seconds, with some of his friends. The bunch never made it to the cinema, however, because not long after they left Michaels house, a man named Jerry, in his Bruckell pick-up, challenged them to a drag race down what was then knows as carter highway. The boys, gladly accepted this challenge. They were in the lead for most of the race, until the pick-up got too close, shunting the bunch off the road into a large paddock. The car leaped over a hill and crashed into a forest. Michael was devastated at this news, but could not retrieve the car for a few weeks. Long story short, the car was never retrieved until 1985. Michael was now a successful businessman and became curious about his beloved Gavril. He travelled out to the location where it sat. To his surprise, it was still there. Charred and dented, he looked through it. Even his old glasses were in the sun visor! He called up his son, who had inherited an old towing business. They got the car on a truck and drove it to an old classic car lot, where an old friend who was in the car when it crashed, began to restore it.

Michael wanted the car completely original. Black paint, 423 V8, 4-Point suspension. All was achieved in 5 months of hard work. Many hours went into the project. The engine got a complete overhaul, as it had been full of water for 11 years.

The car is still being driven around the small eastern town in California today. As for the red pick-up? That was damaged in a tornado, so it was converted into a demolition derby car. It won 3 races before being crushed in 1986. The engine and trans are up for sale at Jacks Garage in CA, if anyone wants it.

    Michaels New Gavril, in 1969.

Before the race, a bystander took the oppurtunity to capture the 2 cars. August 27th, 1974.

Police, and the opponent, stop to investigate the crash. August 27th, 1974, 5:45pm

    The Barstow, January 15th, 1983.

The Barstow, and the Pickup at the restoration shop, 1985

The Barstow after the restoration, November 22nd, 1997.

One day, a man just walked up to me, handed me some keys and a map, and said "Your garage now." to me. He then walked up to a black Moonhawk ute that had just parked, got in and drove off. 2 days later, I would find that exact same ute, smashed up on a beach.

I'm a car guy but i have never restored a car before
    My current cars,

I was just driving around on a sunday till I came upon a Gavril Barstow in an ok condition with parts missing,
    Its condition was ok,
    Towing it away,
I didn't really get time to get a image of the way but I will carry on from when I got home
    At home,

I thought I could do the restoration in my drive way so I did,

I started by Putting on a chrome back bumper, Finishing the lettering and the fitting a new left door,

Then I changed the Rims , Put on the grill, Headlights and bumper and put on a new hood. I also had to put a new intake system in because the exhaust came out from the hood,

    Then

My restoration story is here as promised:
Car restored: Ibishu Covet MRi rally
One sunny afternoon, I was driving around the Advanced Island in his Covet Dxi when i see something interesting. It was a blue Ibishu Covet MRI rally. As a big fan of Covets, I knew that I just found a gem.
    screenshot_00078.png screenshot_00080.png screenshot_00081.png
I called the towing company to to the car away and in a few hours, the car is lying on my driveway.
    screenshot_00082.png
As I know very little about how to repair a shell, I sent the car to the Ibishu factory for repair. Meanwhile, I look for parts like rear panel, front fasia, glass, lights, body panels...ETC.
The car was sent back from the factory one week after I found the car. It wasn't looking good. All body panels were missing. At least the engine and transmisson, seats, steering wheel were in the car.
    screenshot_00084.png
I knew that this is gonna be hard looking for parts. I called Tim, who is working at the towing company to ask for help. A few weeks later, Tim called and told him that they just found a Covet MRI rally underwater, which have enough parts to completing restoration.
    screenshot_00093.png
True indeed, thanks to that covet, the car restoration is completed. I also take the car to a respray shop and spray the car in bright red.
    screenshot_00063.png
Nowadays, the car returned to former glory.
    THE END
