Greetings dear readers! I was busy with life, so I only made a couple of things in the past some weeks. However, those piece add a rather huge amount of immersion to the map. Highway to the west First off, I finished the western highway. It now sports a pretty light installation as well as partial ditches. The end is signalized by this pretty Checkpoint which can't be passed. Highway to the East The eastern highway now also sports some decals and a pretty middle stripe. Here you can also find a gorge with the eastern checkpoint Pathways & streets Some more paths have been added to have more kilometers to drive on. They are not particularly hard to drive other than speed. Just like in real life Same for the roads. This point is where I might add a large structure in the future but for now it's just a road. Again, like you would find in real life. LOD & density I again altered my basetexture to get a nice LOD terrain behind the dried river bed. Maybe it looks too nice now... In general, I should have spent more time on getting a high-res basemap. But that's something I can do better with the next project As you can see the vast lands of this map are now filling up with stuff. Even only in the LOD. A good sign! Bonus: It takes 1.58min to drive from one end to the other over the highways with a standard D-Series
Ideally yes. But then I would want to add commercials as well. Not sure how the licensing for those is though.
Greeting people from the internet. A little after Christmas update: The first beta release is awaiting approval. With the very kind help of Car_Killer himself, we could upload the map. The devSize was well over 3Gb but with the CleanUp tool from alexkleinwaechter I managed to squeeze it down to 1.6Gb which, still, is too big for a normal upload in the repo. With my recent trip to Hungary, I also started to make some photogrammetry assets that will find their way into the map in later updates. Hope y'all have great holidays and see you next year!
There seems to be a some missing textures. But I couldn't reproduce the error on my installation. Getting into this now.
Hey! Found the missing texture problem. Currently, awaiting upload of the fix from the BeamTeam because I can't do it myself. But there should be an updated available in the next some days. Thanks for the comment and let me know if you find more.
fix for the textures: go to the vanilla Johnson Valley. levels>johnson_valley>art>shapes>rocks_low and copy all .dae files. Paste them to kasach_desert>art>shapes>rocks_low edit: nvm I didn´t read the post above so anyways, thats the fix if someone wants to play this map before the new version is on the repository edit2: There is one more: s_rocks_desert_huge_sheet_3 is missing from the art>rocks folder. I think this random removal of objects comes from the mapshrinker tool. I had the same issue and then manually fixed it again. Could be the same on your map aswell but its an easy fix
Hey, yeah I found that the mapshrinker deleted all the files in the art/rocks_low folder. Not sure why, maybe cause there is no materials file in this folder. Anyway, as for the rocks_huge I replaced them with the ones that spawned because they didn't come back even after placing the file in the folder again. Thanks for the comment as well
I must say the map is awesome i really love big maps! Keep up the good work! I have one problem tho as you can see the grass is not rendering the right texture when im near it... Is there a fix for this or a bug that will be fixed? Edit: there is a backroad with what appears to be a "no texture" writing on it.
