This is really irrelevant, but has anyone used the russian mods? I have a few and some aren't all that bad, modelling wise. They would only need to have a redone jbeam and new sounds to make them good. Was just a thought I had. --- Post updated --- As I was working on other things I remembered how the original wheels were an afterthought, here are more original wheels: take your pick. --- Post updated --- More comparison pics:
Yes, your kind of right. Russian mods could be good if you re did the jbeam (In most cases completely.) and the sounds. Most of them have crappy textures too, so you would have to change some of them, and make them color able.
The new wheels looks better obviously cause it has more polygons and much detailed compared to the old one There are some shade errors and some crooked parts that you could fix, did you use edge split? Great job so far.
Do you mean they are bad? I didn't mean those types of mods, only the ones with a new model added to an existing jbeam. --- Post updated --- So much for So much for two weeks off, thaks for showing me though, some of it is being fixed
Russian mods=model slapped onto a existing jbeam from the game, often poor textures but a good mesh (which has been taken from another game or made by someone else) These mods are bad, models are usually good.
That was my point, the models could be reused for something good, anyway this was unrelated to begin with.
Russian mods are bad. Models in russian mods are mostly good, but unsuitable for BeamNG. How to make a russian mod (to be read with slavic accent): 1. Model Model is best taken from a GTA San Andreas mod or an AAA game, but one from a site with stolen models will do as well. Model doesn't need to have detailed interior or drivetrain or anything except the bodyshell. 2. Jbeam For jbeam it is best to take an existing russian mod made by one of your comrades. (Don't worry, he won't be mad - he is a true communist and doesn't recognise private property, just like you). Just find a mod of a car with a body shape similar to yours and use it. You may also follow the way of our forefathers from 1917 2013 and take a fresh jbeam from an official car. Jbeam selection guide: If your car is a Hypercar/Supercar - Bolide or, if you like being different, SBR4 Sports coupe - K-series Muscle car - Moonhawk Everything else - Grand Marshal Then replace the model with yours. DONT EDIT THE JBEAM! 3. Textures The model you chose already has textures and is sort of UV mapped, so minimal work is required. Colorable cars are for capitalists and so are dds pow2 textures - a true communist is free to choose any image size or format. If you chose another mod as a base, show some respect for your tovarisch who made it and leave his texture files in the folder. 4. Finishing Change the name. You may opt for a newer info.json system, but true old-schoolers use name.cs. Thumbnail is optional. Configurations are not needed, though you may make "sport" and "stock" configurations as a throwback to 1917 2013. Now your mod is ready! You can upload it to modsgaming.ru or sell it to youtubers to be used as a clickbait.
OK then, I thought the models were custom and that some good could be made of them, but no, russia hates us all on the beamng forums. --- Post updated --- Is there anyone who could help me with this texturing nonsense, apparently I've baked something and now it looks like trash, still got no clue what different maps are and I am losing my mind
Sounds fun, if you like your skin being ripped off of your bones. In all seriousness it sounds fun but undrivable.
