no. Does it have to? I also just upped my OC to 4.0GHz. Testing it right now Also, something got on my mouse and now it makes a lot of noise when I move it D:< Okay, 3.9GHz. Now lets see.
Ah, the only good part about the amd. As long as you were to get an unlocked processor, it will over clock with most motherboards. My 6600k isn't the best CPU I've had, but I've hit 5.0 ghz on a hyper 212 evo cooler. With the 660 at its stock speeds I can hit around 65-70 fps, but my CPU is bottle necking the overclock ive put gpu, as it could run 100+ fps easily with a 200 MHz bump. So, if you really want an amd, I'd go Athlon 2 x4 750k, as its my CPU, only without integrated graphics, so you will be forced to use a gpu. However the Athlon is better at over clocking, which is really quite an easy (and free nonetheless) major performance boost. super sneaky ninja edit: with the race update coming out soon, we should have 25% faster physics with the same CPU load. So generally speaking, the 750k will be more than able to run at 60 fps as long as you pair it with something like a gtx 660 Ti or 760. Wouldn't recommend amd cards for drive as they have some issues with rendering large maps.
Well, all the cars have different performance hits. So you can only compare tests that used the same car model.
I run an AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core Processor @ 4.8 GHz with a nvidea gtx 760 and get 120 fps with one car (35 fps with 12). I would say that if you are on a budget, get an AMD FX-6300 Vishera (120 USD on newegg.com). You cant go wrong with six cores at 3.5 GHz. For the graphics, An EVGA Geforce GTX 650 2 GB would be just fine.
Cheapest GPU to run BeamNG at +60fps with a CPU that won't bottleneck it, and... My card will max out the game with zero problems. It is just my CPU that has a little trouble. It only costed me about $200. AMAZING deal! I can run every game I have at max, no problems. Mind you guys, I don't play something like Crysis 3. I will get BF4 sometime, but I think either Just Cause 2 or Borderlands 2 are my top games I play and they both run at a perfect 60!
I'm deciding whether to: Get the i5-4440 and go broke and homeless (nah jks) Get the i3-4130 and possibly get a R7 260X Get an Athlon and a R7 260X and save some $ Buy my father's i5 750 for an unknown amount and some rubbish motherboard, spend the rest on a R9 270X or a 7850 (same chip I think) It seems that I would need to sacrifice some RAM; I already have two spare 2GB sticks, would 6GB of memory be noticeably slower than 8GB? And at about 5 cars? I don't live in the US and I can only visit my local store which doesn't offer a variety of GPUs so nVidia is hard to get for me.
Even my store Canada Computers is scarce for NVidia cards. As well, you can get a decent mobo for $60. I got my RAM for $170, but 4GB DDR3 @ 1333 is about $60 as well.
@Dummiesman: That ninja typing, didnt notice your post Anyway, two factors I want to know about: A. The number of cars and what components will change the framerate B: The resolution, because I have a very old monitor and I may keep my 7770. Will the CPU have an effect on the performance of differing resolutions? I should know this, I've built PCs before but I don't play games usually I have an Athlon dual core at the moment and it does ~30fps medium in the tech demo, probably more. I was not expecting this result. - - - Updated - - - Bump (character limit) Ah nevermind, time is different on the other side of the planet
why dont you check out web sites like www.ebuyer.com they some times have excellent deals that can knock the price right down on a build. i wish i had read this page as my build this year has just jump up.... cheers guys the wife will kill me now. also if you have limited funds (like me) buy your machine piece by piece. i for example will first buy the CPU (Intel I5 4440) i believe is what im going for. i will buy that end of next month. then wait for a month or so then get the mobo. if you know exactly what you want you can buy it piece by piece. start with the cheapest part first you might be pleasantly suprised when you get to the most expensive parts later.
Well in that case: CRT Monitor-$10 Beige case with floppy drive included-$50 Controller cards for ATA133 and USB3-$15 a piece Etc. I'm building a 'sleeper' as they call it in the car industry. But anyway, no one's answered my previous question?
Its CPU that has the biggest effect on performance, until the dev team spends a lot of time learning a new programming paradigm for GPUs' that allows for physics calculations on a GPU. anyway, I can get grand marshals at about 30 fps, even though my processor is very slow in benchmarks. I swear its the amount of threads that's a good indicator of the amount of cars you can run. Your GHz seem to dictate how "fast" you run the simulation and the threads seem to dictate the amount of cars you can deal with to a first degree approximation. I have the same performance with 2 cars I have with 6, roughly. More than 6 and I get a noticeable performance dip again. don't know if its the same for anyone else, but its generally what happens to my system.
not sure what my fps is but my ancient oc Q6600 @3.4ghz and two GTX 280s in sli seem to handle the game no problem.
with my pc i get 35fps on dryrock highest settings at 1080p with my 280x which is equivalent to the gtx 590,680,770, and the 7970 ghz ed. and everything you mentioned is less than a 280x so..... edit: by the way you guys should say your resolution and settings when talking about fps, or it just means nothing.
Something's wrong. My 7770 can nearly do that, a 7950 can. You have a 280x/7970. Might want to look into that.
