Yes, this is a noted bug with the current release, I have explained it on the download page. This is caused by the use of an antiquated system to set upshift and downshift points on automatics to have an Upshift point separately at low and high throttle same for downshifts. Rather than an all around shift point no matter what throttle is at like all the official vehicles seem to have moved to. Fixes poor shift points. [although automatic is really just terrible on a really high-powered racecar anyway]
I know that you posted this a while ago, but have you ever considered using a mic to record sounds from youtube, etc.? I've been making some loops of my own by doing that, then modifying the sound to fit my uses with Audacity.
Using a mic to record sound from youtube? ROFL You would be far better off downloading the video from youtube and copying the audio track from it. Doable and without the added noise a mic recording from a speaker would add.
I wouldn't do that... It's better to set the recording device to "Stereo Mix" (or similar). You'll only get the sound that plays out the speakers then.
I have a good dynamic mic that minimizes background noise. For me, it is less hassle. However, we shouldn't get too far off-topic. We can talk more about this via PM if you wish. More on topic: Are you basing the Bolide Racecar's style off a particular racecar, or are you trying to get the general style of the time?
You still have noise on the ADC, you have noise on the DAC, you have the airgap. Its a very poor idea when the stereo mixer is less hassle than lining a mic up and when downloading the original file is not hard while remaining lossless (compared to original source).
Tried this before, not easy to accomplish as most sounds from video are not constant enough for a good sound, did it for shift horn and idle sounds before. Tried with engine before however like I said RPMS and overall sound in most videos are not very consistent to obtain a long enough loop and keep it clean
I have to find the time to allocate to suspension debugging. Unfortunately I have spent countless hours trying different little "tweaks".
Quite a good vehicle, i wouldnt say best ever but i would say none are the "Best ever" because as soon as there is a best one a better one or one of equal quality/purpose arises.
Fantastic vehicle, i have only a few minor quibbles that i suspect are already known about. 1. The wheels have a tendency to clip through the bodywork 2. 3rd gear seems a little off. Might just be me, but it seems to rev too low when switching up from 2nd to 3rd. Can never quite decide whether to shift back down to 2nd or stick with 3rd. 3. The nosecone has a tendency to deform and drag itself into any surface other than Tarmac, a bit annoying if you get off track, as usually the vehicle will grind to a halt with no steering, or flip. Other than those minor things, this project of yours is amazing, one of my personal favourite mods around right now. I've subscribed to any updates you release, and I look forward to whenever that may be. Thanks!
2: It's not easy to give a high powered race car automatic transmission properties that work, the car is at it's best when driven manually. 3. in the next release this will be fixed as I've remodeled and reJbeamed the front and it no longer does this.
I am driving it manually, and like i said, the gearing makes 3rd gear a bit odd when shifting up from second. Even when redlining in 2nd, 3rd gear still sits too low down in the revs, and it feels as though it blunts the acceleration to some degree. I don't know much about race transmissions, so it could just be me being pedantic. Cheers for the response though, i look forward to the update for it ^^
I do notice when exiting corners at times you do have to change the gears back and forth more than I'd like, I'll take a look and see what I can do, it's like that mainly to keep low-end acceleration up and the higher end gears from falling into torque pits.
