Two ads from Autobello's questionable safety campaign of 1969. The ads involved stunt drivers in Autobellos which were hit by Gavril D-Series trucks. While the statements in the ad were technically true, they were misleading. In both tests, the seat was placed in a favorable position; further back in the front impact and further forward in the side impact. The impacts were not directly toward the driver; notice that in the front impact, it's an offset on the PASSENGER side. The stunt driver recalled in a 1997 interview that the campaign was "full of crap". That being said, the campaign DID help to increase seat belt use in East Coast USA, where it was run.
