Controller not working (again)

For some reason, beamng drive doesn't detect my xbox one controller when I plug it in. It doesn't show up in hardware either. The game only detects it when both my mouse and controller are plugged in. But when I take the mouse out again after that, the game stops responding. This is the error message:
0xCFFFFFFF - STATUS_APPLICATION_HANG

That looks really odd.
Please check if this is related to Steam messing with input devices.
Steam > Settings > Controller > Controller Settings.
In there, make sure no checkbox is checked.

i tired that, still didn't work. It just seems that the game isn't recognizing my controller

Is Windows itself recognizing the controller?
Is it working in other games?
What mouse are you using? (exact model)

However, I don't think the mouse has anything to do with the controller not working. It was probably luck that the controller started working.

Uhm, please replicate the crash.
Then give a Support ID, as explained here:
https://supportid.beamng.com

Maybe your logs will give some hints.

There are no signs of crashes in your game logs.
More likely this is not coming from the game side, but something else that may be messing with your inputs.

Do you have any third-party programs to manage your mouse/controller?

The game doesn't really crash, it just says not responding forever, and I don't have any third party programs for my mouse/controller, I just plug it into my laptop.

Not much material to help I'm afraid.
It could be anything, more likely not even related to the game itself.

Perhaps the mouse is trying to use some weird file or dunno.
If you have another one, it's worth checking with it.

Or some weird driver was installed at some point in the past, and are now causing this.
