Could Vulkan (aka glNext) be something for BeamNG.drive?

OpenGL as we know it is coming to an end (Edit: nope, they will continue development and support alongside Vulkan). It's called Vulkan (previously called glNext) and will be the successor to OpenGL, build from the ground up as an low level API. It will still be open and support all platforms and vendors equally. It's based on Mantle.

    Read more here.

It's backed up by Valve and all the big names in the industry and a specification is set to be released this year.

Could this be something for BeamNG.drive?

That's really cool. I hope you can keep us updated on this matter. ;) Could it be possible you join the board at some time? I guess it could be useful to have a say here, to shape the API to include your physics related needs. :)

Some more related read here and here.

Technically wouldn't be for beamng directly but rather torque3d, but then tdev is involved on that too.

Correct. But it's for the game anyhow.

I think it would be a perfect path for T3D if Vulkan pan out the way we all hope and believe.
