Given that this game is quite CPU intensive, and a lot of users likely have OC'd CPU's, i was wondering what sort of temperatures are you getting while playing? My 3770k is getting a max of 64 celcuis, with a Hyper 212 evo. Idle is round 35 degrees.
I have a 3770k as well OC to 4.5Ghz, my cooler is a H100i. 1 car on pure grid 17 cars on pure grid Edit: @logoster - Yep lol, can't wait to try this again after the update.
What program do you use to get the Cpu clockspeed and temperature in the corner? It looks like MSI AB, but as far as i know thats only for graphicscards. Sorry for the not so good english.
Apparently my CPU temps only get to ~38°C when under full load. I have ran BeamNG at the same time as I was folding and never peaked 40°C. I think the heat sensor is broken because I can idle around 6°C when my room never goes below 20°C. It used to work, but I overheated the CPU a few times (like got it above 100°C multiple times). I was trying to record gameplay using fraps while I still had the stock heatsink/fan.
Just remember that you should not let CPUs exceed 160f under gaming load. (Just over 70c) GPUs shouldn't be going over 200f. (94c) My CPU only gets to 130f (54c) under gaming load with all the fans and the Kuhler pump/block on low. (115-120f on high)
My CPU gets to about 50C under the 40% load it goes to on Beam, even after around 3 hours of playing. I am on stock cooling at the moment, and I am really trying to get a better fan, because I really want to OC, and after I read the guide I was given.
i7 3770k H100i running at 4.6Ghz (haven't tested at this clock speed much) it has never gone under full load as far as i am aware and the average max temp is 75 (ish) degrees but as i said, i don't know what it's like under max load only 90-95% load. Also the thermal paste is the stock stuff that comes pre-applied with the cooler so i have no idea if it's any good (could lose 5c if i get some high quality stuff?) I normally have my clock at 4.2Ghz due to it being plenty high enough without risk of anything bad happening, but due to the awesome cooling capabilities of the H100i i can afford to push it... i think... time will tell xD
Well, those temps are about what most desktop CPUs and GPUs should really be doing. I know my laptop CPU has survived running against the throttle at 215f for like 45 minutes once. (It has gotten hotter before, just not for very long.)
The thing is, you shouldn't just go by what 'most hardware' does, people should really know what their hardware is capable of and not guess. Just as an example; you said that your CPU should never exceed 70C, Ivy bridge processors have a tjmax temp of 105C. So on a chip like mine you are totally fine running it up to 95C for extended periods of time, according to Intel.
http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2012/04/23/intel-core-i7-3770k-review/1 - "With lower stock power consumption though (the i7-3770K’s typical stock Vcore is around 1.05V under load), there’s more room for over-volting. Using a Corsair H100 liquid cooler, we’ve been able to use a Vcore of 1.4V without issue, although this has resulted in temperatures closing on the CPU’s TJ Max (maximum operating temperature before throttling) of 105°C." The new Haswell I7 4770k has the same 105C tjmax temp. I don't run mine past 85C at 100% load just because I can with my cooler, but my point is just that everyone needs to be looking at specific information on all of their hardware.
Mine err...gets rather toasty and it tells me BUY NEW PC...but I really get about 66 Degrees C at the core...on my bros its like 45 Degrees C at the core and the GPU gets to 40 Degrees C..
yo didn't you say that your mobo couldn't change the voltage of your cpu? I bought a fairly expensive motherboard expecting to be able to do this but changing it to a number in the bios doesn't change it and the setting goes back to "auto" which is 1.44v. I wanted to undervolt as some people got significantly lower temps and retained stock clock.
Tried the same thing (17 cars), was playing at 720p windowed, max settings. Surprised at the temps with just a Hyper 212 and a 4.6GHz OC!
