I've tried but my post got deleted on SIM monsters. Mod is in private development
Well, I should have asked for explicit permission. I'm sorry about that. That's all I have to say.
What happened dont stop the monster truck..
Whenever you are creating a replica of something, be it a game asset or in real life you'll always have these sorts of problems. People can claim credit for just about anything and use that to attack anyone who reuses that content. The only reason any progress is actually able to be made is through the good graces of companies who either support it or simply don't want to waste the time and energy required to fight it. To give an example, I've actually seen a guy get sued by Dewalt for using their sticker on a remote control boat. They deemed he used the Dewalt logo and shade of yellow, both of which are copyrighted, without their consent. If all companies acted the way certain painters do, the people who are complaining wouldn't even be able to post their stuff to begin with. Ford owns the Ford logo, FELD owns the rights to all the logos on the trucks. They could very easily say "You're using our logo without our consent, get rid of it". People who complain should remember they're using other people's work to begin with and pay that forward to anyone else who wants to use it.
Please don't apologize, man. If anything I feel like I should have to apologize to you for what a member of our community said about you. All I can say is, please feel free to continue if you truly wish to do so, because many of us at Sim Monsters were so excited for what you were going to come out with next.
They're right about this one though, some of the skins were literally (and declaredly) ported over. I should have asked or desist.
No if they ask you then you ask them to use them. But it shouldn't be a problem unless your making money off of it.
What happened to the group. I got kicked out
Look, it all started as a backyard project, some tweaks to some underdeveloped mod to make it better. Somehow it got out of my hands and all that.
Your ethics and morals are impeccably greater than mine...
can you show me the link to the group
maybe we should start from total scratch? personally i think that could be fun and we could also build it from ground up as realistic as we can with as correct weight as possible. i mean we have people that can model, texture, jbeam and most of the skills we need to make this from scratch right? it would be a challenge but a fun challenge i now have enough internet to be a part of this again and would like this to continue.
how did you put more wheels?
Well, the mod was pretty much redone completely so far, the only remnants of the original mod being the basic 3D props in the chassis (and even those where going to be dropped for the Cohen alternative). People who can model are the same people who modelled the original stuff in the first place... so, after all is said and done... it would end up almost the same.
Guys - this is all my fault.
I was the one that wanted the particular body we included that the author of certain parts is unhappy about. I have a son who enjoys BeamNG with me, and it is his favorite truck. I wanted to do something nice for him. I am newb modder, have never released my own mod, and don't fully understand the current code of ethics for such endeavors. I rushed F2YS to include it in release, after spending days myself to get it working in BeamNG. He hadn't even put patch-notes up for it yet, where he usually thanks the authors of such things.
I am really sorry for violating anyone's personal property bounds. If I had known, or even thought about it, I would have asked - and I have no problem giving many thanks to anyone that helped put a smile on my kids face.
But here I am, unintentionally starting sh** with authors at World of Mods and now, SimMonsters - with everything I try to contribute... I thought the modding community here, and abroad, would be more friendly than this.
a year later....
Not your fault, really. It's a lack of communication on my part. The origin of some artistic assets likely wasn't made clear enough. That led some people to the assumption I was taking authorship.
So is that really it for the mod. Its sad. All that work just gone
this is how rigs of rods died a cool mod get deleted for no good reason and if only one person has a problem with it delete it there content and replace it there is a nuff people on beam ng and sim monster who would be willing to help
