I was thinking of making a map with things like this. But on the friction thing; i havnt the foggiest idea.
Can't change the friction of mesh objects sadly... I'm pretty sure it is planned though. You can only change the friction of the terrain atm.
Tell me more, ha. I just downloaded Snow Island. Tomorrow, I'll try it out and see if I can figure out what you did to change the friction.
Snow Island uses the terrain traction, you can not change traction for a 3d model that you've created. The friction for terrains is done by the ground model names, RockyDirt, grass, Snow, Ice, Rock, Sand, etc. Find a full list in lua/groundmodel.lua.
Thanks for the tip. - - - Updated - - - So, are the settings for grass in the groundmodel.lua legit or were these values on the back burner for the alpha release ?
Been working on it today. I made some changes in the crash area, I rotated everything to fit a new area, a series of slopes with different inclinations and surfaces. Also this: Asphalt + slippery surface, the blue is supposed to be wet plastic/paint, I might change the texture later on.
Yeah, beta probably coming this weekend. That surface in the first image is really slippery, if you edit groundmodel.lua and set friction to 0.16 you'll know what I mean. I really like trying to get up there with 2 wheels on asphalt and the other 2 on that surface. P.S: I need locked differentials xD I tried with the covet and 1 front wheel started spinning like crazy and I started rolling backwards More slopes are planned, with different angles, I'm working on it right now.
Beta released later today. The read areas will be empty for the beta release, but I will add stuff there for the final release, hopefully next month once I finish my final exams and I'm free for the summer.
I got like a thousand error messages, then when i closed them all off my car fell into the sea and it was all texture error.
go into the folder, and drop the test_facility folder into the levels. i did the same thing just putting the Davidbcs_test_facility into the levels and it gave me the errors. didnt realise there was folders inside of it that need to be placed lol. if that makes sense?
yeah that's it. Also drop the lua folder into the main game folder so you can have the slippery surfaces. - - - Updated - - - .
This map is really cool, some small things to adress though: (imported from here) The bump below spawn is a little to big/high to cross with a normal car or a car that isn't built for offroading. (imported from here) Moonhawk after the bump. Not good for the suspension or the wheels (imported from here) Spawn area and ramp in front missing textures (imported from here) I don't know what this is --UPDATE-- (imported from here) This may be on purpose, but why is this blocked? (imported from here) This white line grabbed my wheels at around 60 MP/h, thus causing the suspension to tear itself apart. I really love this map after only 30 minutes, hope to see it done soon!
yeah i was getting no material in the same places as well. also that black road has no collision. and some of the 'paved road' to dirt/gravel transition is pretty...wonky? not sure how to explain it lol. but yeah its a great map thanks. can i request a mud pit, or a mud course like drowsysams ultimate test terrain
