Soon, just wanna finish that trail in the screenshot, another trail, add the other guard rails and finish the airport. Also gotta go around and thin out the vegetation a bit, and kinda polish everything up. Probably gonna be uploading it some time next weekend.
Re engineered some of the corners on the paved road, finished up the housing complex, added some more guard rails.
Looks absolutely awesome. I need to get my laziness dedicated go getting some things done.. But its late and I don't feel like staring at a screen making Poly's and junk. Map looks well laid out and very realistic which I love! Good work sir!
Coming along nicely ! It's possible to use large hi-res decals to cover the rocky/cliff terrain areas to give them much more detail up close and from far away as well. Decals can also contain normal/spec/pom textures.
Thanks everyone, gonna look into making my own decals at some point, dunno if I will bother for this map. At least not when I first release it. Airport area is nearly done. So I figured out the materials editor..
Looks much better! I keep thinking, there is no way you could make this better. Then there you go, proving me wrong.
You know you can rotate the wood guard rail things where they go along with the terrain right? Just apply a small amount of rotation and you'll see what I mean.
Yeah I know, doesn't look natural though. I worked for a fencing company and basically the only thing that can conform to a slope is chainlink and the posts still stay straight up.
So I just brought the map over to a buddies house using a USB Key, and when he loads it the heightmap is gone, there is no terrain just objects. Tried searching but couldn't find much.. Anyone have any idea what's up? It says its Failed to create resource: [levels/deathroad_0.ter]
sounds like your .ter is still in your terrains folder, not your map folder, open you .mis in notepad to see where its looking for it.
There was actually another map released a while ago called Death Road beamng.com/threads/3167-WIP-Beta-Death-Road I think yours is more than 10 times better though. That one had no vegetation whatsoever and had lots of issues with smoothing on the mountians.
