Demolition derby - selector doesn't function

In the menu where you are prompted to select a controller by steering with the controller only the keyboard input works. The controller input doesn't work when steering with the analog stick and even when I remapped the steering to a button it didn't work. Both controllers I wanted to use work perfectly in the rest of the game and the cars in the background are even steering when the menu is up. This is on a fresh install of beamng.drive and actually even a new windows install (all I have installed is graphics driver, controller driver, steam, firefox, beamng and default windows features).
