Hi everyone, with my group i shared what the mod is moving towards, as now i'm working on a big update that will increase the number of cars to 380/400. This is huge but i need lot of time, so i'm going to let you know that to all of you, maybe the update will land in August or in July, i don't know yet. I started working on many things but the next update won't include custom parts i'm working on, i'm pretty satisfied by the models but jbeams are not pretty. The reason why it will take a long time besides making 130 more configs are various: my grandma is at the hospital, so i need to travel from my house to her, it's very hot so i have to go out and refresh myself. I need to do lot of textures, every car needs a custom lettering, i have to do 400 pics. Fortunately people like @Bernd @Carbender and @wrinkle345 are helping me, if you want to help me somehow i'm here. thank you for 30k downloads. One last thing, i cannot grant another update after this one, next year i'll move to Turin for university and my PC will stay in Sicily, 1000 KMs away. I'll try with all my forces to keep updating my mod but it's not easy. Hope for the best, this is the main reason why i'll finish all the cars in my schedule and not only the cars that are ready now (40 cars for now) Here's some development screens of the last work i had done
hmm the small details make everything better :3 thanks to @NinetyNine! for explaining normal maps this was to try it all out. will probably do a higher resolution later.
The interior trim will most likely become a brushed metal effect rather than body colour to prevent passengers from throwing up when entering brightly coloured vehicles (especially red).
I don't think I have seen a car with wood panels in it since the early 2000's/ 90's so I probably won't put that in it. However while you won't be able to see in game it would almost certainly be fake plastic aluminium trim. Similar to the stuff they use in all trim levels of Hyundai I40:
Ford still uses (fake) wood everywhere. OT: Redid the lights, all work. (rear: outer-signals, middle reverse and circle running lights, inner brakelights)
Must be an American thing, I haven't seen a fake wooden panel in a ford in a very long time. (Mondeo, Focus, Ka) This is how it looks with a metal sort of colour though. Still needs a lot of work obviously, such as a display, buttons, dials etc
thats an eudm Ford Mondeo Ghia... the Galaxy and other bigger euro Ford models have fake wood in top the Ghia spec.
Wow, that's pretty neat! (If you're going to do an Australian spec though, you will need to have amber rear indicators, red ones weren't allowed on AUDM vehicles) Will it come with a restored version as well?
Could be a region thing, here some cars have wood (or Piano black wood if that's an option) and the "sport" version use aluminum or sometimes carbon fiber.
Yep but Ghia has been phased out since... like, 2010? in Europe. The last Ford with fake wood trim in Europe was the Mk1 Galaxy Ghia. Both the Mk2 Galaxy and the Mk3 Mondeos had wood inside at launch, but it was later dropped altogether as the Titanium trim level (which featured fake aluminium accents instead) replaced Ghia at the top of each range. EDIT - Wood is making a comeback with their new Vignale lineup though, but this time I believe it's genuine veneer.
The lights are just solid coloured placeholders, they will be replaced with something more suitable when I get around to making something more suitable. It will likely be red with a clear white section for the indicator. As for the wood thing, since its not intended to be a US spec vehicle I will probably leave the wood out because it isn't so common in European or Japanese cars plus its just one more thing to texture. Texturing is by far my weakest point so I would rather focus my time on getting a single Trim level looking semi-decent rather than spewing out 10 that I made in MS paint in 5 mins.
