I was thinking the same for a moment there, but then I watched the videos. It's clear that there's more going on there than just a stream and some remote inputs. Firstly, multiseat doesn't have support for multiple viewpoints, so player 2 would still have to use the same camera as player 1 to see what's happening. Secondly, while there would be some lag for the remote player, the lag would affect their entire game, not just the other player's car. Also, it's pretty clear from the way things are moving that there's some kind of networking going on there. So, altogether, I'm impressed.
Looks like a dead end to me. On each computer the remote player's vehicle respawns repeatedly - multiple times per second. This is certainly based on either new location info arriving or the net-code's predictor filling in gaps (obvious during the times when the vehicle slides sideways etc). Damage isn't persistent for the remote player's vehicle (and it's not synchronized since there's nothing to synchronize). It sounds like the remote throttle position is also hooked up, but there's no prediction for it yet. Even after that's smoothed out I just don't see this going anywhere really. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I just don't really see where this is going for a game of this type.
Bruckell Metropolitan. I did this because of the new road kill episode with the Cadillac , i wanted to make a car like that. No blueprints for this, just reference images.
It isn't a death end tho, this was just a first step. Now we're working on the serious business, rewriting most of the code so we will have consistent damage and it will be a lot smoother.
Got into working with @Mythbuster's long forgotten and abandoned project, the Seat Ibiza. Currently got it working. We'll see if i can push myself any futher
Well, from my experience. You can modify any mod for STRICTLY PRIVATE use. Beside, he cancelled the project and left the forums for quite a while as well.
Ok it can actually take even the 2100kg planks! And whole haybale. It's not finished, but jBeam mostly is, so go get it if you like to carry stuff! http://www.beamng.com/threads/long-bed-for-d-series.31294/
Got the Seat Ibiza's splitter working by modifying the Nomi GTRX Splitter's Jbeam. It now shows up but...you wouldn't believe the downforce it creates....
