Thanks to @SixSixSevenSeven's and @VeyronEB's comments on my dammed Cadillac, i improved the deformation slightly bit (less fraigle but still...WIP) I'm still trying to fix the car spawning at a 45 degree but i got no luck so far. @VeyronEB said that the engine mesh is floating so i'm intending to find a new engine mesh. The suspension on the Drift Monster version is also fixed a little bit so it would be less bouncy (as seen in the screenshot attached below)
Good, but there is no need to change the engine mesh, just fix the origin. It also doesn't float it orbits the car in 90% of crashes...
Just a thing, If you want to do different version, and because it's already looks a lot like an audi, I would suggeste you this design : Basically a fat rear pillar, bigger wheels, and plastics around the wheels, the bumpers and under the doors (Don't know how it's called) Not at all inspired by the q2...
Hell yeah. Baby wheels (10") xD. Shame we don't have any Kei cars to put them on. buuuut just 1 wheel today. made alot of different sizes again. 10", from 5" wide to 7" wide 13", from 6" wide to 8" wide 14", from 6" wide to 11" wide 15", from 6" wide to 13" wide still have to make the 1 piece version of this wheel.
I think I would probably class it as a softroader. Since the point of the black plastic is to prevent dents and scraps from the ground. I think Seat has a softroader version of the Altea where they have huge plastic bumpers that can bend out of the way of the ground. I do like the idea of the black trim around the base though, there is a slightly raised model (Eco Warrior) so it may be quite fitting for that to have the black bits. But it all depends on whether it can be implemented without making insane modifications to the model. The black bits around the windows are a really good idea since it makes the car look a lot more realistic (Same goes for the interior). Making the rear end sweep down lower is not going to happen though. Mainly because it would be a fairly major variation change to the car and jbeam skeleton. While it is 100% possible it would take a bit of time to do, so I would rather finish this car so that I can move onto a new project rather than make hundreds of variations for this one. However I am sure it could be modded and would look sweet if done well Bigger wheels is also a little difficult. Since the wheel wells only allow for so much without reducing the suspension travel and maximum steering lock. However the rebel does have larger wheels on it since the ride height is so much higher (I think the steering lock is reduced on that model though). It should also be noted that the wheel models are not final, they were actually nicked from a gokart I was working on before this and stretched to size
Totally agree, just for the plastics thing, now, a lot of cars use this kind of thing, just for render the car nicer, or for preventing scratch on the painting in city, or just for saving money, you know (Dacia ?) : Spoiler: Exemple Chevrolet Orlando : (Not at all an off-roader, since it's a FWD car, but still a good car) Renault scenic 62005258410 : (Not at all an off roader, it's just ugly and... Ugly lol) I know how hard is the J-beam thing, so yeah ! BTW do you think making a "Light off-roader" slightly raise up, bigger wheels, more plastic, and why not a roof rack ?
That is what the Eco Warrior model is essentially. It switches the Petrol FWD system out for a 2 motor electric 4x4 system. It has slightly raised and softened suspension. There is already a roof box jbeamed, however the model for that has less than 20 polygons right now. So it is physically modelled, but poorly 3d modelled for the time being. However that is based around the idea of the roof rack bolting into the indents in the roof. I think roof rails for the 4x4 version would be a good idea though. There are also some cat ears that individually sway as the car drives (shout out to @SuperNoob05 for that idea) Spoiler: Seat Softroader
Fixed the Caddy's colors being off using a skin that @Fen used as an example as a base then edited However, the more chrome you apply, the clearer the "No Texture" appear.... Gotta fix that up later
Turns out Dirt Showdown models are nice but not perfect. Before and after It looks wayyy smoother now. i had to do this it bothered me a lot that it was a square beam. Very happy with the results. Also, i started working on the rollcage.
Added push bar (needs correcting) and rollcage --- Post updated --- The rear seems to be too high for me Anyways, to stick with demo derbies...I added a config for the Caddy I'll relax and stop working for now
Just AGAIN a little thing (Yeah I know i'm annoying ) I feel that the car need more plastics, and a bigger grille for more... Cooling... I guess ^^
For the engine that is in it the grille is already more than large enough To be completely honest there are a lot of ways in which I could improve the car, including completely redoing the 3d model (since it was started over a year ago when I was less skilled) as well as starting the jbeam from scratch again. However rather than spending another year making this car absolutely perfect I personally feel it would be better to finish this car, then on the next one I will be able to do a much better job with all of the skills that I have learnt. Which is why the R60 is a fairly boring design (and unintentionally Audi like), its pretty much the 5th car I have modelled, the R20 (below) is a little more interesting (and will be improved further) and eventually I will hopefully be able to make something that rivals official content. One of the main reasons for this is because I could potentially use these mods as part of my portfolio, where multiple mods that show how I have developed my skills over multiple projects will look better than a single awesome one for potential employers. Whether I am able to do enough work to get to the point of having 3 mods over the next 2 years is a different matter though. It mainly depends on where life takes me as to whether they will be a good portfolio piece or not, since 3d modelling is often not desired in programmers One other reason is because I really want to finish something, I have started many projects for RoR and BeamNG but never finished anything, which in truth is one of the harder things to do in any creative medium. I also have other cars that I would really like to implement using a better designed jbeam such as the R20 as shown below which is a front engine rear wheel drive sports car. Which is very early WIP as can be seen by the lack of polygons and shading issues in places, it is also subject to major changes, I may also have something else that excites me more after the R60, who knows?.
This a very good design, would you be interested to send a front picture of the R60 and this one so I can try to make the Front grill of the R60 look like this one ? (I'm VERY annoying) (And I really like playing with photo montage) (And i'm spaming the development screens thread)
The R60 isn't render ready since it is currently set up for BeamNG Export. Hence the lack of wheels. I also added the R20 for you to mess around with too. I also added the R60's predecessor since that may be interesting too with its odd proportions and bubbly design The R60 was originally going to be that bubbly design (Under the name "Reco") but I scrapped that design and created the R60 to replace it.
The rear IS high. its one of the things i have to look at. Rollcage is all done. doesnt look like squares anymore either.
Got some work done with the DTS. The Police variant now has push bar and alley light (Fixed the push bar by turning off self collision. Works like a charm ) I plan to make a skin for it (The old skin is lost during windows update... ) --- Post updated --- If anyone can help me make skins for the Cadillac (since i suck at skinning), pm me
