Here is a map I am making. The name of it is "Rock Fall Peak" and it's based off a motorstorm track (called caldera ridge), and it's basically taking a rock mountain and making a rally/offroad course off of it. Still very much a WIP but here are some pictures. And here's a layout of the course. Subject to change, but the red is an alternate route of the track, and the blue is the main track.
You have no idea how much that makes me want to say "challenge accepted". But at the end of the day I don't need another project I can't see it as being too hard though. There is a version of the R60 (the hatchback I am working on) that will do over 230mph while remaining stable (not a realistic engine power for the vehicle, but I will likely include it because it's pretty fun to drive) . It handles OK too.
I just thought it was because of the fancy materials that modern cars are made of and the lack of real life crash test footage.
You can approximate most of that stuff. BeamNG doesn't really simulate materials, you can make objects that behave like plastic, carbon fibre, metal, rubber etc but when it comes to deformation they will all behave in near enough the same way. So you can make an object that twists and retains its shape after twisting just like plastic, but you can't make it break like plastic does, you can only make it bend like metal. Its probably one of the bigger limitations of the node beam system that BeamNG uses, it can't simulate brittle materials once they reach breaking point. Maybe the devs will figure out how to make it work at some point, but I imagine this is why there are no official carbon fibre vehicles. Cause they could only make it crash like a metal one.
Thats looks nice. My dad used to own a stock 316 sedan. I always remeber the hood it just looked just So Magnificent
Yep, AI might be an issue though... There is 2 mountains that are part of the course. I might make them bigger but the AI will have to take a alternate course. Caldera was a very fun track for me too, so i'll try to recreate the "craziness" from that track.
