Scimitar Mesh is still a little rough as i dont have any full blueprints so am doing a lot of the silhouette by eye. It will be much smoother when its done. Chassis and wheels are done as is most of the interior (not included in this pic)
Racecar anyone? (imported from here) (imported from here) once again my bodywork sucks compared to my chassies (imported from here)
Floating the ribs is a nice idea, but they're sure to get separated during deformation. In a perfect world, reflections would follow normal maps, but in T3D they don't, so you have to compromise.
Are normal reflections planned at some point? If so I'll just normal map the corrugation. But the corrugated metal in the D-15's bed, for example, is clearly normal mapped and looks pretty flat and unrealistic. A whole car that looks like that wouldn't be very nice...
The truth is people worry about polycount far too much. Its important, but for a vehicle as simple as that (no rear interior as its a van, boxy design & probably fairly basic drivetrain) its worth it just for the extra visual appeal. Just be careful to make each rib low polly or it will add up really fast.
Been fixing the polo today. Bugfixes, damage textures for windows and lights. Also improved the headlights a lot.
And I've been fixing the roof on my Chaser... Breaks away pretty cleanly now, unless you start driving circles around it you can't really notice the polys that sorta follow you-ish...
It's not really set anywhere particular. It combines a mixture of features that I've seen in California, Oregon, Nevada, and Utah. For its final description, though, it'll probably be the small town of Blackhills, Nevada on the historic Route 58.
