The activity feature does not do anything special. Any and all activity shown by the feature is done by permissions. When dealing with any type of sensitive information it is vital you check things before assuming, this is how you protect things. If at any point they make a permission flaw to where said section/post is visible by the title, any member who does not have the right permissions to VIEW the forum itself will get a permission error. Being a Moderator, I have used this feature to stop things before they happened. In this case, I don't need it for that but it's still a nice feature to have. It doesn't hurt anyone to have it, and it doesn't hurt anyone to not have it. I just think it's a feature that shouldn't be disabled, since it's so basic a caveman can do it (XD).

There's a very minimal risk with this feature. You're at more risk of a security leak by creating a new forum then by using this feature.

 

That seems like a pretty valid argument, and having absolutely no experience with vBulletin I guess I shouldn't be talking (only SMF), but I can only assume that they just disabled it because of a possible risk. You seem to have pretty much thrown that possibility off of the shelf though. Either way, I just think that they didn't disable it because of the recent excitement, on the basis of the ease of their infraction button.

I sense strong amounts of sarcasm. Maybe it's just my gut.

 

It does seem a bit odd that tdev would say that it wont be released in a week when we hadn't talked about more than a day... If I were a dev I'd want to stay vague.

I really can't tell if tdev is being sarcastic or not . The ellipses would imply he is, but people use that just for no reason so he is more likely than not being serious.

 

Jesus people go play with yourselves and wait, tdev said its not coming out this week and that's what you'll have to stick too.

 

oooo even though you can have a sarcastic tone on typing, the way tdev wrote it makes it seem like he is, of course, he proabbly did it knowingly that wed think he did it sarcasitlicy, even though he means, it, im really hoping that he really is sarcastic, as so many cool pics have been posted latley that i just cant wait as i imagine no one else can eaither of course

 

the speculation going on is horrifying. Look, the unusual, activity is not evidence of anything other than the developers did something unusual. I mean, lets look at contrary evidence to potential releases. For all we know, they're just drafting another blog.

1. Tdev has stated the release is not this week, and by "definitely won't be coming out this week" it is probably not a stretch to say we have alot of time left to wait.
2. There's heavy development going on, meaning BeamNG is likely to not even be in beta, so it likely won't release for quite a while.

And why would they release when they are obviously far from finished? what could they possibly gain other than a million uninformative and poorly written bug reports from a thousand users? Personally I'm convinced of a 2014 release. I know Gabester says otherwise but developers always tend to be optimistic and I'm a Negative Nancy. Reality likes to happen, and it likes to happen alot. Just keep calm and carry on. Might come out this summer, may come out next summer. You never know. Its better if you don't keep working yourselves up and going through a weird cycle of disappointing yourselves.

I'm going to go and play Bioshock infinite again, I suggest you all do the same
