sounds arent my priority, but they definitly add to the realism, along with realistic behaving particles

There's no doubt that sounds are hugely important, and we want to do the best possible job, but like I've said before - we have a to-do list a mile long, and sound is the hardest thing for us to do right now with our current resources.

The LFS style of sound simulation is great, very flexible. Would keep good consistency of quality, even with addon vehicles which is a nice bonus. The only thing with LFS audio was that it sounded sort of generic across the vehicles, but I'm sure just using a higher fidelity "pop" and or different "pops" for different displacements or whatever could mitigate that.

I have one question about the "to-do list". Where does Force Feedback fall into the list? I mean, with out force feed back you can't really test a vehicle to its maximum extent. Plus, it makes the game so much more enjoyable.

For me it's high on the list, but it's not up to me to code it. I would hope to have it implemented as soon as possible.

The body can definitely detach from the frame, but it takes a LOT of force to remove it. This happened after I collided with the edge of the map on Airplane_DeadIsland.

I managed to partially separate the body and frame by lowering some props in the gridmap and smashing into the Moonhawk with DrowsySam's heavy D15.

We got a realistic automatic transmission implemented today :) Manually shift through P R N D 2 1 and the car behaves just like a real one, creeping forward in D if you don't hold the brakes.

In other news, damn you Sam for placing a corner after a blind crest leading into a bridge :D This happened:

He's making great progress on the East Coast map :) It's a blast to drive; night and day difference compared to Dry Rock Island. The roads are smooth, fast, and tons of fun - it almost feels like a completely different game. I've still barely explored less than half of it (and he's not done adding roads :D)

You guys are in for a real treat. The map is gorgeous and there's so much of it you haven't seen yet.

The new Covet Sport - now a realistic factory option. About 10 more horsepower than the stock Covet, stiffer suspension, new 16 inch wheels (you've probably seen them hiding in the .DAE), and nice sticky tires :)

    covetsport.jpg

The old "Sport" is now called the Race, since it has a roll cage, and there's no way that'd be a factory option, nor would a turbo that adds 80 horsepower. Also it's only fitting that the "Race" update come with a "Race" version ;)

Nice Gabe! A simple wheel upgrade and colour coded bumpers really brings out the Covet's inner beauty. If possible, a right hand side mirror and a factory sports wheel would finish it off nicely. Either way, I will look foward to driving this;)

I'd love unpainted and body coloured to be options, but yeah. The covet is looking rather sexy now.

It's optional in that you can edit the materials.cs to bring back the old black bumpers... but there's no interface for swapping skins right now.

I'll assume the map is a WIP, no?

Is the East Coast USA map particularly laggy? I can run Dry Rock Island with just under 30 fps on medium settings, but I assume that since the physics are sped up in the race update the East Coast USA map won't be so bad on my PC.

Also, the trees in the background look like a 2D picture, what's up with that?

I could certainly help with various sounds. I have total access to the following (belong to us or schoolmates who I know well enough to ask)

    Maserati:
    Gran Turismo
    3200 GT

    Ferrari:
    328 GTB
    575 Maranello
    F12 Berlinetta

    Range Rover:
    Sport (old + New)
    Vogue (old+New 5.0 supercharged V8)

    Lamborghini:
    Gallardo
    Diablo

    Aston Martin:
    V8 Vantage
    DB9

    Bentley:
    Continental GT

    Porsche:
    911
    2007-ish Cayenne
    possibly a boxster

    Mercedes:
    C63 AMG (sounds amazing)
    SLS

    Audi :
    S5
    R8 (don't think its the V10 though)

    BMW:
    M5 (not the latest)

    MG:
    Midget

    Morgan:
no idea which Morgan it is, possibly the Aero 8?

    Planes:
A couple of private two seater single prop planes (not sure of the makes but I can find out)

    Helicopters:
one 4/5 seater non commercial private helicopter but again not sure of the make.

I'm afraid when it comes to American stuff , there's sadly (I love them) not many here in the UK. But please just ask if you want anything!

What hellish school is this??? Eton :p

The most high end car in my old schools car park was a god damn audi TT. Everything else was shitty. Actually scratch that, throw the TT into the shitty category.

Only place I have seen a supercar on the schoolrun is kimbolton preparatory, there is a dude with a 2013 ferrari 458 italia who genuinely drops his kid off to school in it, and the prep is the infants school :/ I nearly hit that guy actually, parents there seem to think that because they are all rich and most people are not that they own the road and therefore will not look before turning onto the main road, in my case causing full 4 wheel skid to avoid a shiny red ferrari, also discovered that my ABS doesnt work at all while doing that :p
