Moonhawk V8 Special? It has a lsd and a little more power (310-ish hp?). Plus it has worse handling, good for drifting
we need to short list some cars for drifting since I am a judge in this I cant really say we need to come up with like 4 catagories from Easy Normal, Medium and Expert drift difficulty so the harder the car to drift the more points you score...what do you think?
The grand marshall, moonhawk and 60's caddy all seem to slide alright with a little more power. Normally angle and line are the main factors when judging solo drift runs, but we can't expect everyone here to be able to figure out the proper line. Its hard to say which will be easiest or harder to drift. Typically, cars with a shorter wheelbase are snappier and require faster steering then longer cars. High power cars are much easier to initiate and maintain a slide but power also requires more control to keep from spinning. I'd say the hardest car to slide would be a big car with low power. It would require the driver to rely a lot on using momentum to keep the speed up. Or a high power short car. It would be very unforgiving and really just want to spin around.
I agree. I also think, since there is a major debate over it, that you should be able to choose your car. Would you agree Robert? - - - Updated - - - Okay. I did have that feeling in the back of my mind that I couldn't trust some people. What would you suggest? Post a video of your best drifting run?..
Yeah. And maybe have an established course in the industrial area, then when you finish the course your run ends. That will also make it easier to judge because the only difference will be drifting ability.
It needs to be done with a car everybody will have without doing anything. So a car the devs made in its original status. A debug mode must be enabled to ensure that it is actually using the original settings. And of course must be RWD. AWD could be good too but we don't have one yet right ? Only the Civetta fits well enough as it really drifts well. Also it should be like drifting on the track a whole lap. That is a viable constraint. And with internal camera only. Should be something like this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EzdRgdcNkA ...with the constraints I mentioned in addition.
yeah I agree there should be 4 Categories Easy Medium Hard Expert multipliers as follows Easy: 0.5x Medium: 1x Hard: 1.5x Expert: 2x does that sound good?
I think restricting it to internal camera might be a bad idea. When drifting irl, you'd find yourself looking out the side windows to look ahead. It's much easier drifting with an out of car view in beam than only looking over the hood with the internal view.
We should all have to drive the original release of the Civetta, the one that was released with 0.3.0... Much more fun...
Sounds great! - - - Updated - - - Yes, plus it would be hard to rate without seeing outside of the car.
In most games it does, but it seems a bit easier with the outside view in beam. Probably because you can see more.
I thought it to difficult to make a course in the industrial area. So I made the Drifting track the first track that you spawn on in the industrial map. Cheers.
Actually, I have an old mod for Industrial where I made a track that should be decent for drifting. If you'd like, here it is: http://www.beamng.com/threads/3595-Industrial-Racetrack If you'd like some changes I can update it to make it better for drifting.
That'd be nice, but I would like contestants to be able to do this without any downloads. - - - Updated - - - The contest has started! So post your drifting videos on the provided track! This event will end Feb 1.
