And here it is. Not quite a Gavril D15, but has gone through everything I have tried so far. Has low and high range gears, UHF radio, lights, aluminium front and rear bumpers, rear spare tire carrier, big wheels, cut away sheet metal for extra clearance, and much more. Next will be a 2" lift, Weber carburettor and snorkel.
Just be warned, you're not allowed to get a snorkel if you're not going to use it. If you install it, you'd better be in a situation where you were glad you did at least once.
The farm down the road from us has the same type of model (i think... the front end is the same) but as a pick-up style, yours looks much better condition
That tube running up from near the fender up to the top of the windshield on the beautiful jeep is a snorkel
Thanks guys. Here it was just sold as a Subaru, but the proper name is the Leone. It is like a Brumby (Brat) but the wagon verson. There is also a sedan, 2 door hatch and coupe. It is unibody but the chassis is strong. It's weight is about 900kg and the engine is a 1.8L pushrod boxer engine. Independent suspension all around with a rear torsion bar, so not a rock crawler but goes well on most terrains. It would be good to see some different offroaders in Drive, like a small subaru style one. As for a snorkel, it works like it would on a human. A tube that allows the engine to breath air while under water. Though everything is dry now, I may have to do river crossings in the rainy seasons. Here is a piture of the rear with road tires on, and the other side.
Seeing as its a subaru (granted an older one) is it an electronic AWD system, or a mechanical 4 wheel drive system?
It is front wheel drive normally, pulling a lever puts it into 4WD (not AWD) and pulling it further puts in in low range.
What Jeremy said. It's also a forefather to their tried-and-true Symmetrical AWD system. (imported from here) Symmetrical Axles from transmission and back - this actually has the benefit of distributing equal/tolerable power, kind of like Audi's RWD based Quattro. I should know, I used to own old Subies!
