Great suggestions, really nicely thought out too! Believe it or not, a lot of this was a part of the original WCUSA plan that I caught a glimpse of (was before my time here) but due to minimum system requirements they weren't able to be realized. WCUSA is already pushing the limits of our minimum spec, and unfortunately we cannot just say, "oh well, too bad get a better computer." I would absolutely love to add more and more and more to WCUSA, with future tech down the line, maybe we'll be able to, but for now, we can only dream of such things! I'm really glad everyone else seems to be onboard with these wishes as well, it's great to see! :)

Is the racetrack there purely for Career Mode?

Can you check how many people are using minimum spec? And then possibly change the minimum spec? Or other optimizations could be implemented (like that's easy :p). Maybe you could put some of these ideas on different maps too.

The race track was built well before Career Mode in it's current state was started. It was an iteration on level design choices, make an entire track out of a mesh from Blender instead of using the terrain tools. It will be deeply incorporated into Career Mode moving forward, as it's "What we already have" and I plan on getting in there more myself to finish off the roads to and from the area, fix up the terrain, dressing, etc to make it more connected to the rest of the level.

I spent a few hours before last release to change up the Fast Automotive dealer yard and make some minor changes to the parking lot just outside of it (behind the pits) with new improved pathing. Again, WCUSA was built before traffic was planned, so the majority of the level is "here's a place to drive with some neat roads and interesting areas" rather than, "This is built for Career Mode progression." As mentioned earlier, I chose WCUSA as the foundation for Career Mode as we can do all the driving types on it; it's not just rally, or not just streets, or not just a race track, has a decent freeway section, etc etc. When I propositioned the island makeover, I didn't expect anyone to jump on it, but that took off really well and other than a few minor changes, it came out very much as planned! Unfortunately, that pushed the system requirements over the limits and we started getting tons of flak for, "game runs like crap" "they ruined WCUSA" and more.

I know for a fact one of them is bussin.buses also the whiny little kids complaining about their gt 1030 struggling is quite annoying and will get worst.

We are changing things as we progress, but it's not a free-for-all! People who bought the game in Early Access were promised a game that would run on whatever system they were told. If we suddenly changed that, it could get pretty messy pretty quickly, so for now, we're working with what we have laid out, while making any improvements we can along the way. :)

I think I just have a GPU bottleneck, but since I use a laptop, I can't easily get around that.

With minimum spec, it won't help much. It uses the GPU to process more and reduce the load of the CPU, but if both of them are bottlenecks it won't do much, or it may make it worse, like my setup.

too bad you can't just switch to a newer engine like UE5, that has better optimization.

Frankly, if you're going to innovate and improve things more, I think pretty soon the minimum would almost have to go up if you guys continue raising the bar like you guys have the tendency to do. I remember before I upgraded my system it struggled with the scintilla, and my current system now struggles sometimes with the T-series. It seems that achieving more and more detail to make it as realistic as possible, will eventually require a minimum spec increase or major new optimization techniques and technology, that are either impossible or very hard to implement. :(

I would like to say you guys can keep making strides forward AND keep the minimum the same. However, I do not think that would be possible considering the requirements for more and more innovation needs. At some point something will need to change, hopefully, you guys can find a way to optimize the game for lower-end systems, but if that does not or cannot happen, things are going to change.

Why do you think I said "too bad you can't"?

UE5 takes high end hardware to run features that are typically used to showcase it. Considering Beam’s converted an engine to be their own, I’m not so sure the swap would yield favorable results even if could be made.

sad that the only problem here is youll have to keep DX11 backend for the users that dont have vulkan support, or people that might still have bugs with vulkan even after full release. (unlikely but hey can happen)

Well you need a reasonable gpu, even the 600 series support vulkan, the little Indian 12 year olds gt 710 can still run vulkan

Oh, I didn't know the Recovery menu lets you fast travel as well! Thanks for the tip :) Perhaps this could be mentioned in the tutorial somehow? I just did it, and the quick travel options aren't taught to the player.

Glad to hear that you got it working!

Great point about the tutorials, it's all WIP still of course, but it shouldn't take long at all to get something in there to help players better understand! We jussst squeezed the Car Jockey gameplay in at the very last second and missed this small detail of "okay, now what? Oh yeah, just take a taxi!" Thanks for bringing it up again =)

    ***
I've made the necessary adjustment to the tutorial screen, unfortunately it won't make it out until the next release! (not sure when that will be) Thanks again!

Of course! Happy to help you and the great team with the development of the career mode, and thanks for being so responsive and lightning-quick with the changes!
