Early Experimental Preview of Career Concept

    When the full version of Career Mode releases (presumably when BeamNG 1.0 is released lol), will there be different careers on different maps? That seems cool.

    Yeah, there was no comment on this on the changelog but it seems some of the new features could help career Mode development? Anything to share @krallopian ? Thanks.

    Apparently they added the vue ui refueling on career. Saw it on Reddit, but can’t try because my laptop is corrupted, and I can’t delete stuff to get more space for my windows partition. Yes it’s a Mac.

    in career mode it is not possible to open the garage menu. it just doesn't show up. fix this please

    So, here are some changes!
    sorry for poor quality, had to use iPhone camera cuz I was playing on GeForce now on an iMac.
    You can now choose how much gas you want to put in your tank, and it cost more, with more gas.
    You can also now tow your car to the road, flip it, fix it, tow to garage, and fix at garage. There’s also a new loading screen for the missions and a fully functioning logbook, with a few challenges, which give you rewards, by clicking the « claim reward » button. There’s also more pictures and ui elements, which is cool I guess, but still! This is a bigger update then the 0.27 career

    I did find most of whats mentioned in @simsimw 's post above in the new 0.28 game files. New refueling mechanics, new towing\recovery system, new loading screens, new UI elements, and more. Most of whats listed below can be seen in that post above (which includes some screenshots), but here is what I found in the files and descriptions found within some of those files. These findings can be seen if you load into Career Mode ingame, but this post is entirely based off the game files only.

    I found some foundations for a "quest" system, this is different from the missions, campaigns, or scenarios. Or its possible its meant to replace some of the old systems. The quest folder and the quest files were not present in 0.27 A lot of the quests seem to be associated with the new "stats" and they all seem to be some sort of accumulative goal (quest) to try for as you work your way through the missions\scenarios.

    Here are all current "quest types" found in the "types.questTypes.json". There is also a bunch "info.quest.json" files that are used for specific quests - inside are mostly placeholders and have "TBD" listed as the description of every quest. A couple have listed requirements to complete them but most are blank.

    Besides those "quest types" there also seem to be some "milestones" quests. There are currently four "branches" for those quest types (same as Career Branches): adventurerBranch, labourerBranch, motorsportBranch, specializedBranch. Also throughout some of those files or file names they reference the "logbook"

    Here are the current "milestones" that I found:

    Code:
    Distance Driven: 5k, 100k, and 1000k
    Reach Branch Level: 2 & 3 (for each branch type listed above)
    Stars Earned: 5, 20, 100
    Time Played: 1, 10, 20 hour(s)


    WestCoastUSA is the only other folder inside the "quests" folder it has several "tutorial" quests.

    Main Tutorial: "Career Tutorial" (includes sub tutorials listed below)
    Basic Movement: "Learn to walk"
    Big Map Basics: "Map and Missions"
    Car Basics: "Basic Car Controls"
    Refueling and Garage: "Refueling and Garage"
    Vehicle Choice: "Select the first vehicle of the career"
    These tutorial quests also have specific flowgraph json files referenced inside (eg. /tutorials/03bigmapBasics.flow.json) but I cant seem to find those files right now. If I find more I will post here again (or update this post)

    interesting. most of the new ui stuff in 0.28 was unused and unfinished already in 0.27. pretty sure all the new unused stuff will be added to 0.29

    one thing I also noticed is the fact that you can't access the garage ui anymore. I tried many different ways, but I coudn't open it unlike in previous versions of the game. I'm not sure if this is an issue on my end, but still.

    I know career mode is as of yet unfinished, however a couple of the missions are either incredibly difficult or impossible and could do with some extreme balancing and further playtesting. The most egregious of which being the Mudbarrels - Hills mission as I am certain that it is impossible to knock over all 30 barrels in the time limit. In addition, the quick travel points do not function and there is no way to filter missions by finished to assist with removing clutter from the map.
    Again, I understand that campaign is in early development, however I hope this can be used to aid in improvements down the line.

    I'm incredibly impressed by the progress made with BeamLR! It truly showcases the remarkable modding potential of BeamNG and speaks volumes about the dedication of our modding community. There are undoubtedly numerous similarities between our plans, which is truly exciting to see!

    Has anyone encountered such a problem? at some point, the career menu does not open and after restarting you appear under the map and cannot do anything

    Thanks, but restart what? The game? The career? Reset vehicle? I tried all that and didn't work. Some official help would be welcome :)
