editing DDS images

What (preferably free) software should i use to edit DDS?
With Blender I can open and edit dds. Two other programs i tried can't support dds... I have tried GIMP and Photoshop (installed dds plugin, doesn't work)

And of course i'm having problems with blender.
I edited DDS image with blender's UV/image editor, but I can't save the image.
There was an error message "cannot write" or something.

You can use gimp, but you need this plugin: http://registry.gimp.org/node/70

I think there's a plugin for photoshop too, but I'm not sure.

 

Yes, nvidia has an installer for a dds plugin for photoshop on their website. It's old but worked just fine when I installed it today.
