Catastrophic game presentation: PEGI 3 (Why? BeamNG isn't a game for kids.), 360p png images (Guys, we're in 2024.), The same requirements since 2015 (Why Windows 7 as minimal OS when both (Steam and Epic Games) can't run on Windows 7? Also I'm under your minimal requirements and it works fine, update them lol.), Soft body physics is still highlighted (Why devs make technologies more advanced than the majority of games and don't brag about it?). And the Steam page has the same problem too.
I don't like this. Steam has a philosophy of making their money through emphasis on making a good product for the consumer, while Epic has a philosophy of doing the bare minimum to extract the maximum dollar from the consumer. These different emphases can be seen in the storefront designs, the storefront feature sets, and even the first party games of each platform/publisher. Selling the game through Epic, while it does allow for BeamNG to retain a higher revenue cut, does not increase the possible player-base (because Steam and Epic share worldwide availability), and supports a developer/platform that is less "consumer" focused and more "consumer's wallet" focused. Btw, if this is because BeamNG as a company is struggling for cash, I think a large portion of the community would happily purchase merch, etc. to make up the difference, but I doubt that is a concern at this time.
Epic Store still works on W7, so plus for them Also recommendation is for game, not for DRM platform. You can find plenty of older games on Steam that mention, for example, only Vista and XP.
I find a bit odd how people are unhappy with a new platform selling the game, as if this directly impacts anyone in a negative way.
It would be better to spend money to improve the game, or hire more people. Everyone uses Epic Games to take free games or play Fortnite / Rocket League.
It's more that really: Of course they wouldnt lose anything from using Epic, but they really gain something from it?
it just sets a bad precedent, besides how many people will buy the game on Epic? We see constantly that people don't even know new games that are exclusive to Epic are released until they finally land on Steam.
Maybe its time for BeamNG to make DLC's, there's absolutely nothing bad if this happens, many games do it, for example ETS 2, it has loyal player base, just like BeamNG, and everyone loves new DLC's. Personally i'd be happy to support devs. At the end of the day, everyone needs to make a buck, i bet everyone who are on forums bought the game at least a couple of years ago, and i suppose BeamNG is struggling to make money because there's not many new players. I just don't support the idea of selling it on Epic, because you have to lose money first, and then make a profit, but as i said there's not many new players and also not many people use Epic to actually buy something, but anyways, it's devs decision how to sell their game. If you need an opinions on how to make money, just ask the community what they need and what would they pay for
Well as much as i can not remember when i last used Epic games. I think this is a epic idea But jokes aside i think it will help get more sales. See it making beamng last even longer
Yikes, why are so many people against this? This brings more players to the game, thus building the community! (Also might be a hint for future multiplayer options using the Epic API). It’s not an acquisition, it’s just another platform that this game is available on. (And as a dev stated earlier, it’s literally the same game and files but on a different platform)
Imagine getting mad at a company that's given away huge content updates every couple months for almost a decade now, because they are diversifying their distribution methods of the base game, Y'all spoilt.
The moment devs start to make paid DLCs is the moment this game dies. --- Post updated --- Can't agree more.
Literally everyone wants a DLC. Even merch! Theres been a stat counter ingame for a while now. Maybe it just took the stats
I believe it is based on the statistics in game, which have been counted for a few updates already. I have 11859km in it myself, including 2000km in my resizable ETK800 mod, bigger wheels = more distance lol
