Romania in ETS2 looks cool unlike real li- (i dropped my keyboard on the ground for 2 seconds and a romanian stole it)
Reminds me of that good ol' German joke: Why do Lithuanians always take two cars with them when they drive to Germany? -Because they have to drive through Poland. (nothing against Polish people btw )
Or, here in New England, we have a saying: What is the worst part about driving through Massachusetts? Massholes (and I’m not talking about potholes, but they are prevalent as well).
Here in Germany, we also make some jokes out of our vehicle registration codes. I know a few from my home state of Hesse, but I'm sure this is also done in other parts of Germany as well. Here are some examples: OF (Offenbach, a town near Frankfurt known for *good* drivers): Ohne Führerschein (no driver's license) GG (Groß-Gerau, a town between Darmstadt and Mainz): Gemeingefährlich (dangerous to the public) ERB (my home-kreis, Odenwald, capital city of Erbach, we are a very rural area) Ein Rasender Bauer (one racing farmer) or Erste Rate Bezahlt (first installment paid)
oh, my grandma's 2004 Toyota Yaris has Offenbach license plates (because she lives there), and if you saw how many scratches it has, the license plate would explain it to you. i don't get offended by those small jokes, i do them myself for most countries. we have a popular joke in poland called "Niemiec płakał jak sprzedawał" which means "The german cried when he was selling" basically half of cars here bought used from germany have a sticker like that. me and my dad always add "płakał ze śmiechu" which means "cried of laugher". like if the german thought something like "Oh that dumb polish! he really believed that old VW Passat had only 280k km while it had 800k km"
Love that! Here, we also have stickers like these: (Hiermit sei Dir gesagt: Scheiße geparkt) It roughly translates to "Let me tell you with this that you suck at parking", which is put on people's cars who park in spaces they clearly shouldn't.
we have something like that too. i wont put a picture because the sticker includes a 31 (search what it means in turkiye), just see it on google. the sticker is called "Karny Kutas" which translates to "a d##k for punishment". it is like the russian StopXam sticker (white circle with red borders), and on the red border it says "KIEROWCO DOSTAJESZ KARNEGO KUTASA ZA CHUJOWE PARKOWANIE SAMOCHODU" which means "Dear driver, you get a d##k for punishment for sh##ty parking of your car" but its a very small sticker unlike the big StopXam sticker for half of the windshield.
the 2137 number many polish people find funny is actually the hour of when the Polish pope Jan Paweł II died. i don't find that funny and honestly most people stopped seeing it as funny already. i forgot to tell you something about polish license plates. the license plate "LLU" which is Powiat Łukowski on semi trucks is always called "Lewym Lewym Uporczywie" which means "On the left lane all the time (it doesn't 100% mean this but it can't be written in that same way in english)"
2137 with the... pope??? I also just remembered another one from my area: the city of Mannheim (also close-by to where I live and my uncle and most of my closest friends are from there) has the license plate code "MA" which, translated to English still fits. It's "31 rear body hole", if you know --- Post updated --- Also, this is where I roughly live on the ETS2 map, my home village is on the signs on the A5 IRL btw
Yup. However I really hope they change the license plates; the current "system" is completely inaccurate: Greek plates follow the pattern "XXX-1234"
Finally! Nordic Horizons teaser, from the plates it seems to be all Sweden tho... https://blog.scssoft.com/2024/03/nordic-horizons-guess-where-we-are.html
i just love to sometimes turn on ETS2, turn on the music i listened with my dad in the lorry, drive on the roads i greatly remember from real life and imagine as if i'm actually driving. the only thing that is missing is my dad to talk with, so i just talk with myself when i drive.
