Really? Yeah, same here. It's really cool all the things you can do with it. Can't stand Win 8, I know it runs a bit faster but I'd trade a bit of speed for the ability to control the computer.

you lose no ability to control the computer, every single settings/configuration screen available within 7 is in 8....

Gonna go with Windows 7; stable, works, fast enough for me. Never wanted to mess around with Windows 8 or 8.1; also tried linux but you always end up needing windows for something.

Love Windows, Linux, and Android equally. Fuck OS X and iOS.

I mean MY ability to control the computer. I dunno, but Win 8 doesn't make sense to me. I've used it, with an open mind, but it's just terribly inefficient for me. Just me.

Win key + X, all the adminny shit is in there for quick easy access. Only thing I've found that has moved is the screen where you change startup processes, it used to be hidden away in msconfig (which I don't think was pinned to control panel in 7 or 8 actually, maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough on either, I win key+R that one) and is now a tab on task manager which can be gotten at from win+X or right clicking the task bar or the old control-alt-delete slow method.

Win+X to me is a much faster way at getting to things than the cruddy start bar or even search bars. Something else to look at, every item in the winX menu has 1 letter underlined, hit win+X then the underlined letter to launch that program. Win+x then P opens control panel.

I didn't know about Ctrl+X, I just right-clicked the start button. Does the same.
