    A great slapstick comedy!

Oh wait, there is a relationship going on in this movie. Nvm
(But still check it out if you want to laugh like a hyena!)

Sorry to hear about the break up. Stuff like that is hard to go through.

The only cure. Of course, very well scripted porn directed by a woman has it's self esteem building value as well;).

There's actually been some research to suggest that watching generally happy or feel-good films actually depletes mood, as they remind people of how crappy real life is. By contrast, watching sad movies shows us how much worse life could be, and how well off we are in comparison. With that logic in mind, here's some chipper flicks to put a smile on your face:
    • Platoon
    • Schindler's List
    • The Green Mile
Otherwise, my personal list stays the same: Blues Brothers, Die Hard, and the Naked Gun trilogy.

I can never not recommend that movie. It's just... everything and anything you need. Ever.

    Here are some movies:
    Terminator 2
    Predator
Stargate SG1 (if you have patience, the first season is cheesy)
    Mad Max, Fury road
    Rambo
    The Rock
    Robocop
    Aliens
    The final countdown
Other things you could do in the mean time that I find are good for any type of emotional distress or depression include:
    splitting wood
    pumping iron
    going for a run
learning a new skill (carving, knitting, card tricks, blacksmithing. . .)
basically anything that distracts you or uses up the energy that your brain would otherwise use to be depressed.

If you want horror, I know some movies, apart from the "mainstream" ones, but depends on what kind of horror you want. Personally, I'd go for psychological, or supernatural, the other horror sub genres, eh not so much, but there are a few that's worth watching. Here's a small list of the movies I watched, regardless of what the ratings say for it.

    1. As Above, So Below - Psycho/Supernatural horror, based on what goes on in the catacombs underneath Paris, genuinely creepy stuff aside from the negative things. I think it's also partially based on this one story where a camera was found within the catacombs and it showed an unknown man exploring the catacombs until something frightens him to the point he starts running, from whatever it is, presumably the realization that he's hopelessly lost, and it all ends with the camera being dropped onto the ground and it recording the man running away. To this day, nobody knows who he is/was or what came of him.

    2. Event Horizon - Science Fiction horror, kinda an oldie but goodie, originally was cited for being a rather shitty movie, but then it's gained some good reviews fairly recently, and being labeled as "underrated". Summary wise, it's obviously set in the future, a prototype ship testing goes awry and the ship disappears with it's crew for several years until a mysterious distress beacon catches a rescue team's attention, little did they know that something horrifying is about to happen.

    3. Ghost Ship - Supernatural horror, I honestly think this and Event Horizon has similar aspects; rescue team comes across an abandoned ship that was presumed to be lost after X years or so have passed, once boarding the ship, things begin happening and pretty much all hell just breaks loose. Plot-wise Ghost Ship is different, but still a good movie to watch.

    4. The Boy - Psychological-ish horror, now I really wouldn't recommend watching this, since it does contain the main character escaping some relationship issues, but nevertheless a really unsettling and creepy movie to watch.

    5. The Forest - Psycho/Supernatural horror, despite it's poor rating and eh, the controversy surrounding it, story revolves around the infamous Aokigahara Forest, or commonly known as "suicide forest". And well, probably really wouldn't recommend watching this as well unless you're interested and want to.

    6. Paranormal Activity - Supernatural horror, Eh, I've watched all sequels, but the first and the second one were better. But that's me.

I know I've watched more but I can't think of any off the top of my head at the moment, but yeah, some might interject and say some of the movies listed is shit, but to each his own.

    Sorry to hear about that.

To be honest, I haven't actually properly seen any films in quite a while, but alas, I'll try my best to remember some of my recommendations:

    • Anything by Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Inglorious Basterds ect...)
    • Grave of the Fireflies (it's a Studio Ghibli film, it's sad...)
    • National Lampoons Vacation
That's about all I can think of for now. I'm pretty sure these films don't feature any sort of romantic relationships (please correct me if I'm wrong). I'll add more if I get around to watching more films/TV

Also, video games may be helpful as well. Perhaps a good old GTA killing spree may do the trick.

I'd suggest Shutter Island, a psychological thriller featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. The fun thing about this film is that watching it for the second time explains the plot even deeper (you'll see what I mean).

Hell yeah. I know I'm not the only one who thinks every thing he's ever done is GOLD. I'll never forget avi's last words going thru customs after returning from the UK. US customs asks him do you have anything to declare? "Yeah, don't go to London".
