Re: Ford F250 Super Duty (2004) As you can see, the name is now the proper one. I apologize if I insulted anyone or mislead any of those interested, my main thinking was: 1. It could be a gateway for artistic expression (which I didn't take up) 2. It makes it more tied to the game itself. I've never liked mods for games based on real cars as much as possible. 3. It made my life easier as an intense perfectionist. (I would end up spending all my dev time looking for ways to sync it perfectly with the real trucks) 4. I hoped (highly) that it could eventually become an official mod (I haven't looked into this) and I wanted it to fit into the economy. 5. It is HIGHLY based on the D15, and I thought it would make sense if the same company shared some of the same components (e.g. engines, transmissions, suspensions, HVAC, etc.) But I'll just call it an F250... or a radix...
It's not too bad, I have to admit. However, there are quite a few things to fix. 1. This weird floaty thing (I guess it's the gas tank? As pointed out by RobertGracie) 2. The front grille needs to be a separate part/texture from the main body. 3. Wheels/tyres need to be stiffer. Mainly in the front. They seem to collapse upon themselves very easily, or deform weirdly under acceleration. 4. Rear doors need to be closed tighter. They tend to flap around a lot. 5. And of course, like you mentioned: this thing needs textures! EDIT: 6. Smoothing groups are weird. Other than this kind of stuff, it's actually pretty fun to mess around with. EDIT: Oh, it also needs UV maps. I tried giving it some textures, but they didn't show up at all.
Ok, so I can create UV maps and I'll include them in tonight's update. I didn't find a way to fix the gas tank. I'll keep looking around... I suspect it has to do with weird origin angles and then the relative mesh coordinates. I even completely redid the gas tank JBeam structure, but it still rendered strangely. I've fixed the tires. 14 radii was too many. Back down to 12 and they're normal again (that was a last minute thing when I first uploaded it) Anyways, I'd be so glad if you could make some textures. I'm awful with gimp and I'm not very familiar with the whole texturing and UV mapping and dds and whatnot...
I would suggest looking at the Glass and Moving the Fuel Tank to the other side of where the spare wheel is
To fix the gas tank, you have to apply your transformations (or something like that) in Blender. Hopefully DrowsySam can help elaborate on this... And I'd be glad to help with the textures They may not be all that great, though... BTW, quick question to everyone: are you allowed to use images from Google for textures? (i.e. Ford Badge, Light texture, etc)
Re: Gavril X250 Uber Duty Yep, the smoothing groups need some work, forgot to mention that in my original post.
Ok here's the new plan: I have no idea what a smoothing group is, and I'm failing to export a decent UV map. So... I'll hand over the blend file for anyone to edit with blender (or whatever you use) It's hosted here at the same repository for the whole project Sorry to dump some of the work on you guys but I can't do it very well, and I don't want to limit your skills by mine (or as much as it's possible to :3) Please remember this only my first 3d model and only my first true mod for any game; I'm just glad it doesn't crash every 5 seconds
One thing I'd like to request you do: could you make the front grille a separate colour from the rest of the body? And if you can, could you also make the offroad bumpers black? (BTW, I noticed something: the front offroad bumper doesn't show up in-game normally because there's a space in the object name in the model... I think it was something like "bumper_front_ mod" instead of "bumper_front_mod"]) Oh, also, I believe I fixed most of the smoothing groups. They aren't as smooth as I'd like them to be, but hey, it's as good as I could get. If you want, I could send you the .blend file back so you can continue working on the truck EDIT 2: Also fixed the white offroad bumpers. Just shoot me a PM if you want me to send you the .blend file with the fixes. - - - Updated - - - Okay, I have to admit, I went a little crazy. I worked on UV'ing the Lights, badges and grille (I don't have anything better to do anyways) (Yes, the rear lights are also UV'd, although they could use some work) Well, I'm done for the night. 12:25AM where I am. I can continue working on this tomorrow if you (the author) wants me to Although I may be more limited in time...
No. To use an image you have to have the same copyright permissions as 3d models etc. If a license is not given alongside an image to define who owns the copyright and whether it can or cannot be redistributed etc then it automatically defaults to all rights reserved NOT public domain as many people assume. Just rip an image from google and 99% of the time they dont have copyright licenses left alongside them (google itself just hotlinks to the image rather than host the image themselves and of course references them) so to use them would be a copyright violation unless it specifically says otherwise. You could however take a camera, walk down the street until you find a ford and photograph its badge Some websites host images and textures with open source licenses which can be used too. I highly doubt anyone would pick you up on where a headlight texture came from though.
Been working on this... looks cool. so iam interested in build some vehicles or modifying them. what programs are you guys using to do all theses vehicles?
Nice options and 6.7 with the diesel jeez must not way that much. But keep in mind them diesel engines aren't a joke lol. Seen powerstrokes running 5sec with tune.
Well right now the heaviest variant weighs about 4400lbs. The real ones weigh about 5500-600lbs. I looked it up and most seem to be about a second slower then where it is at now.
blender 2.68 and notepad++ (use lua deocder) - - - Updated - - - I'd be more than glad to include them in the pack! Just send me the .dae files and JBeam and I'll add them to the collection! Actually, on a note to everyone creating or modifying the project right now: Please send me attachments of your progress at my personal email: ky13harbor9@gmail.com I'll get them much faster and have them better organized and archived. Another reason is gmail works alot better on android than the html websites If there's any issues, PM me and we can work around them! (e.g. >25MB, etc.) Thanks again to everyone helping me out!
Just decided to do a quick render of this truck in blender, made it blue, and made the windows transparent in blender. Overall just simple stuff, but it looks really good.
Update: 11-8-13 This time, I've fixed many things and with the assistance of Fast Classic, the aesthetics have received a needed makeover. From 8:30 to 12:42 I've (we've) accomplished: New Materials New Color (Sexy Matte Black) Meshes for Front and Rear mod bumpers Mod preset in Ctrl+E menu Textures thanks to Fast Classic (and broken thanks to me ) Interior "cozier" Fixed loose doors Fixed broken window (glass_rl) Fixed shading groups Petted my cat :3 Download Newest Version (11-8-13)
Re: Update: 11-8-13 No need to fear, Classic is here! I'll fix it in a few hours (probably, if I have time [I'm working on a history essay])
