people who review and say stuff like: it has too much power, a f1 has way more grip are incredibly stupid.
Great work! This fits nicely on Hirochi Raceway Spoiler: Insane variant of this I somehow want Because taxpayer funding says so.
hehe that is a great idea! Starting now --- Post updated --- You better be prepared --- Post updated --- drop into your mods and select the part! I beg your pardon?! James, what in earth is this supposed to be? I can't even take my tea with me you wanker!
OMG FINALLY AN ACTUAL FORMULA BASED CAR CANT WAIT TO DOWNLOAD!!!!!!!!!!!! --- Post updated --- uhh where is the create thing
This is a great mod, fantastic work from those who have contributed skins as well. Constructive criticism: Only gripe I have the FR16 are the grip and downforce curves as they seem to be very linear, meaning that while the simulation is accurate to real life, it is not at all precise. To me it seems that the tires are really sticky and that there is little to no downforce at play. Contrary to IRL F1 cars the FR16 is easy to control at low speeds, and when at high speeds where downforce should kick in and multiply grip levels naturally, the FR16 has I hard time handling and accelerating as it only benefits from a few hundred lbs of downforce total at realistic speeds. 90% percent of that downforce is produced by the rear wing so it also has difficultly with initial deceleration at high speeds, the front wing doesn't produce much of any downforce at all. I used the wind app and weight distribution app to measure areodynamic effects btw, I also sometimes hack the gravity for more straightforward results. Downforce levels should be at least as good as the hillclimb vehicles, and tire grip needs lowered to a more realistic level, and we are golden. Accurate and precise. Otherwise, awesome mod and great work so far!
Better acceleration? You're kidding right. Also why do you think that? What is it based upon? Here is a video on a start from the grid in a F1 car. (The real race starts at 1:20) See how he manages the throttle and that he starts from a rev high enough to get him accelerating quickly but not too high for the wheels to spin.
I absolutely agree with you on this, I wrote a fairly lengthy review of it in the repo. @Raider are you trying to make this car arcadey and easy to use for the majority of people or are you trying to make it a realistic imitation of a real F1 car.
This car was just so fun to race around at Crash Junctions. Here's an idea of mine for any future updates that may come. I think a black box around the gear indicator would help make the steering wheel look a lot better.
If I recall correctly, there was a skin for this F1 car that had a part of one of my previous avatars in the shape of the Ferrari badge (the yellow one with the black horse).
I just had a quick peek at the Jbeams and stuff and i think i have spotted why the downforce doesn't work that well, you shouldn't be using the dragcoef to take care of downforce, the Liftcoef does that job. If you look at any wings in game already you can see how it works. I will have a quick play around with the jbeam stuff and maybe try to add some imitation ground effects to the car.
Glad you and some others seem to agree, it's awesome but I personally prefer the more realistic option. I use a wheel and as of now it feels artificial, kind of unnatural in a way. Most F1 cars I've driven in other sims impart a feeling of acute fear and unavoidable punishing instability if driven over the limits at low speeds (<~70mph). While instilling a great deal of confidence at high speed.
