Game doesn't recognize I delete mods

So I've been trying to remove some mods cause apparently too many causes the game to lag a bit. So I've been I've been trying to delete them and when I go and run the game, absolutely nothing got deleted even though I can go look in my trash bin and they'll be there.

I have the game downloaded in my main drive and my mods go to documents. I don't have another location for mods.

From what I've seen, the repository is redownloading them after I delete them from the documents folder.

I cannot stand the repository. It lags so f'n bad. I wish I could just turn it off and not even have to deal with it. I never use it. The website is just much easier in the long run. Please make an option to turn it off.

I guess in the end, that's going to be what I'm told. Appreciate the response. I was hoping to not have to deal with it.
