yeah I just tested it and was greeted with a top speed of 145MPH, I'm assuming it's a dirt track stock car as it runs Hooisers and not Goodyears, red lines at 6000RPM, and doesn't seem to have 800HP, then again it's an early version of the mod, it's a great start, highly detailed model just like yours, maybe one day we'll have all the generations of Nascars (from gen 1 to gen 6)
No its a paved late model. Hoosier doesn't just make dirt racing tires. Dirt late models look completely different than paved late models. Late models are short track cars, many running 602/3/4 crate engines. They're low rpm, 300-400 horsepower cars. They aren't what you watch on tv when you watch a NASCAR race. It needs a couple fixes (which may have ready been fixed I'm not sure), but its absolutely very realistic
it certainly looks the part that mod does. it just needs a few tweeks to make the body a bit weaker and to stop the tire glitches but so far it looks fantastic
Good luck with the body strength in BeamNG. Remember that beamDeform affects all forces on a beam. So if you go over a bump you will deform the body if it's set to low deform values. Which is obviously far from ideal.
maybe i wasn't clear in my last post. i was referring to the late model body, but thanks. also i think a small amount of deformation in the body when going over bumps is ok because in real like fiber glass and sheet steal wobble around at least a little bit. maybe im being a bit nit picky
Take a look at 19 seconds here though. Late models seem quite resilient compared to peoples expectations.
ah, never heard of a paved late model before so I thought it was supposed to be a nascar that ran at Eldora or somewhere similar, it's not bad though, if I can get it to do burnouts then it's a good mod in my books, just wasn't as fast as I thought not knowing it was a paved late model --- Post updated --- and this clip helped me understand a lot of things I thought were wrong, the durabillity, speed, I understand now, and in that case it's an amazing start, I was running it on the ATE-ona raceway so that'll explain why it felt so slow, not designed for a superspeedway
That car is pretty hard to control as it just drifts out of control when attempting to steer at a somewhat high speed
I think its good that its hard to control Because i imagine a real life late model wouldnt be a walk in the park to drive either
I did use the keyboard, I also tested with a controller (Xbox One) which is a bit easier to control. But with both I find it hard to turn into corners on any of the common racetrack mods I have (ex. Indianapolis, Thunder Valley, Akron, etc.). If I had a steering wheel to use I would use that, but unfortunately for me I don't I agree, but I also think there should be some sort of option that would make the car somewhat easy to control with a keyboard/controller, for people like me who have a hard time steering. Or, maybe a specific tune setup that can relatively do the same thing.
