Back in the early 90s the Covet was still a subcompact, until it was bumped up to be a compact car and replaced by the Ibishu Blues and Ibishu Emblem as Subcompact in the early 2000s That's the plan
Civic was a subcompact, like the Swift (and Covet that's based on them). Then Swift stayed in this segment, but Civic (and most likely Covet) moved to compact.
Civic is a compact by Euro size classes, and a look at its config palette and desing shows strong inspiration by the Honda Civic.
All of these are at least 10 cm longer than Civic, while Jetta is almost 20 cm longer than the Civic sedan.
