It's not about the individual styling elements; it's about the overall shape, size, and function. It's a crossbreed of a Caprice and a Crown Vic, exactly like others have said. The styling of the lights and grille isn't relevant to what the car is trying to be - a full-size body-on-frame American car used as a taxi and police car (like a Crown Vic or Caprice). The Cimarron is a FWD unibody compact crapbox based on the Chevy Cavalier. The fact that it and the Grand Marshal both have trapezoidal grilles is just a coincidence.

I've never heard that one before, and that's the first time one of those gags has ever been funny.

Gabester can I ask...can you make this well american pick up of yours into a drift pick up or is that too much of a problem..or could it be done in a short period of time?

(Absolutely one of the WORST questions I have probably ever asked...)

I would be thrilled to have an FG XR8 or the previous model, also a 1970 GT Falcon. The last Falcon looks pretty sh!tty though :(

I just discovered that the Grand Marshal doesn't have any cup holders. I'm not sure I can comfortably use the car anymore.

And they give these cars to cops? Where do they put their donuts and coffee?

That is a weird ass front seat to me.

My corsa only has 1 cupholder and its in the rear of the car, although I found yesterday that my cup of fanta from good old McDonalds would wedge upright in the side pocket inside my door just fine so maybe that is where the coffee and donuts go in the crown Vic.

On the dash, floor, seats, themselves ect...
It is indeed a weird ass seat. I think the idea is that it can act as a bench seat if needed, but has the shape of 2 bucket seats, as bench seats for driving are generally terrible, especially vinyl ones as your ass slides around every corner, which is rather annoying. Also, the fact that they are separated means that the position of the driver's seat can be positioned differently to the passenger, whereas a normal bench seat has she same adjustment either side.

It also seems that there is no space for any cup of sorts in this particular Crown Victoria (the side pockets look way too small to hold any sort of drink). I suppose you have to have it fitted at extra costs, or buy your own cheap ass Americans, lel

Also, I've had a question about the Grand Marshal for some time now. One day when I was looking at the rear suspension, I noticed that there is no track bar (The long rod that runs parallel to the rear axle, connecting it to the chassis). As far as I'm aware, any live axle rear suspension (with the exception of leaf springs) needs a track bar to locate the sideways movement of the rear axle, so it seems odd that there is none, considering the Grand Marshal has a separate coil/shock arrangement. Of course, there seems to be no handling effects, so perhaps you've done something else to locate the lateral movement, or just jbeamed them without using a model of them. Anyway, i've taken a few underside shots, and you can see that the upper and lower arms, swaybar, coil and spring are the only connection between the axle and the chassis.

Just to be sure, I checked with the rear suspension of a Crown Victoria. It appears to be the same, but with the addition of a watts linkage (which is basically like 2, half length track bars). I checked under the diff where the linkage is on the Crown Vic, but there does not appear to be anything. It just seems odd that there is no lateral location system.

The Moonhawk appears to have the same issue, however I've noticed it's upper arms are diagonal, so perhaps that is a replacement for a track bar. The D15 and H45 are fine though, as they use leaf springs which eliminate the need for a track bar or watts linkage.

That crown vic has cup holders, you just have to look...

(under the dash, there is a pullout ashtray/cup holder combo...also the center armrest that folds down has cupholders that flip out...)

It has another set of cupholders as well.
(in the cops right hand, the left hand is occupied by a donut)

i see all these references to Cimarron, CV, Grand Marquis, Town Car...

People, it looks most like a Buick Roadmaster, especially the front end. A Wagon variant could look very similar as well.

    Check it out: RM.jpg

at least they offer TONS of useless long and shallow cubby indents. Very wise thinking :)
In my Saab 95, you wouldnt even BELIEVE the excuse for a cupholder they stuck into that car...literally...

This is my biggest gripe with this car. At the slightes turn, the damn cup just tips over. and BZZZT goes all your power windows and ignition switch while you are driving at 75 MPH.
