I may have bit off a tad more than I can chew. In other words, I'd appreciate all the help I can get.
To be honest, I've been very busy with school and stuff. I'll figure it out eventually. I just need to spend the necessary time to learn how to use Blender efficiently. When I deleted that whole back section I was doing it beam by beam, manually selecting everything. That took far too long. There's probably a better way, I just need time to figure it out.
If you need a hand with learning blender I can help, I know a decent amount on how to model cars. just PM me if you want a hand!
My only suggestion is to try and get permission from the author of the roamer xl mod. This is because the actual avalanche was based off the longer suburban chassis instead of the shorter tahoe. This will obviously give you more room to modify/ add the bed and make the proportions look right.
I'm realizing that I'm way over my head. Blender just confuses the heck out of me, and I end up with a headache after only a few minutes of trying to do something. So if there's anyone who wants a new project to work on, please let me know. I just don't have the skill to do it myself.
That's not the spirit! Of course if you say to yourself it's "too hard" and give up it seems impossible to progress. But I can tell you from personal experience it's NOT impossible. Hard work? yes, but life is hard work mate, if you have that attitude you won't get anywhere A personal word of advise, try to get the hang of using Blender by making something simple (most people recommend a coffee cup, could be anything tho) Play around with it for however long it takes for you to get better (could even take a year), when you feel confident you can move up to more complex projects. A project like this is not what I would call beginner friendly, and requires a certain amount of proper skills to pull off, so I would recommend start again once you've gotten use to blender Also no-one is going to make this for you, it's important you get that idea out of your head It's up to you...
Thank you for the advice. I'm currently a student, so my time is rather limited, but if I find the time, I'll spend it trying to properly learn Blender. I'll revive the thread once I figure it all out.
Ok, so heres something to consider: The avalanche was the suburban chassis and body, just with everything behind the second row lopped off. So, if you think that yor model looks a little off, it's because the roamer is more tahoe-sized, the suburban has a wheelbase extention of 6-8" iirc and an overall length increase of 17" so just take that into account.
I could try asking the guy who did the Roamer XL mod if I could use his model. That would save me a lot of time .
But I think the roamer xl was just extending the body, not the wheelbase, and it looked weird. If you want it to look better try extending the wheelbase.
