I hope the mod will still be updated after the next game update, since threy’re adding vanilla tri-drive to the T-series and probably other stuff related to the axles, and I don’t know how this mod will fare in the update
The upcoming 0.33 update is around the corner, you should definitely add the V8 variant on this thing.. hell.. even recreate / make a similar model to the Pacific P12 / P16, this mod will be a great competitor/successor with the B-Series model. Goodluck on your work, cheers!
Ill keep an eye out for what changes with the update and change the mod accordingly. I think im already using the v8 mesh they will use because I found it in the t series dae file. When is the update planned ?
I assume in a few days/weeks from now, something may go wrong in your mod when the update comes out, though I suggest using the Vanilla V8 for the T-Series when you get the chance too. Here's the latest teaser if you haven't checked (just incase, its not that informative besides with the new vehicle and a Tridem variant)
It would be funny if you'd asked perms to the guy who made the Moonhawk wagon and use the said wagon body to mount it over that truck's chassis, kinda like that one MAN truck with a Ford wagon body
Potential new cab style, kinda like the older American trucks, this was just a test to see how it looks. I will refine it and probably add it as a retro cab. Progress has been slow lately as I have been busy with other stuff but I'm getting back into it.
good, still working on it although august I have been busy with other non related stuff. At the minute the things I need to do are the fine tuning and little tedious details but its always tempting to mess around and try new things (like the cab), which leads to adding more parts that then in turn need fine tuning lmao. You kinda get in a loop of wanting to add so right now im finishing the bits I added so far to release it, then ill work on adding an update. Modding is kinda like a project car, you're never really done haha.
Just take your time man! All these progress is really promising and you won't be done once 0.33 comes out haha
Well, its out and I can say it doesn't seem to conflict, I'll try and add the Gavril md-series 640cui engine to the t-series instead of Belasco 500 and 700 engines I had made. Ill have wait and see what EFC decides to do with his drivetrain mod as mine is dependent on his to function. I personally think his mod was already excellent, and makes the parts added in the update a bit redundant (apart from the v8). His just has so much more possible config options, I assume he wont change it too much because it still works just fine.
Ok guys so I just thought I'll give a general update, the mod has been fully reworked for 0.33 and the latest EFC update, it all works now with new twinsteer and tri-drive I have added even more engines and sounds, lore friendly versions of real US truck engines. I've also reworked some of the ones I already had in the mod with more new sounds. Total of 45 new engines and 26 new sounds (yes you read that right) I have made extra slots to de-clutter the parts selection a little bit. I'm not sure I will add the flat face cab I tested a week ago, unless you guys really want it, as the mod is already getting too big lol (I may even have to split it in 2: one mod with heavy duty parts, another with engines) I also haven't made custom turbos for each engine so they can use the normal T series turbos, but that means they also use the default meshes which can clip with the engines themselves, specifically V engines. Visually ugly but, its fully functional and gives more customisability. overall its getting there
It's really up to you if you wanna keep working on the flat face cab, if you cant be bothered having to work on it then thats completely fine. And about the Engines, my personal opinion is to keep it in the same file and a single mod itself along with the T-Series parts. I hope you'll be able to release it soon since I can't wait to try it out! Cheers. (Do take as much time as you need)
yh I would ideally want to keep it as one mod too but all the sound files means it goes above the 480MB limit for repo mods. Devs do sometimes allow larger mods although usually it for things that cannot be separated like maps. --- Post updated --- Ok nvm I trimmed some unnecessarily long audio files and managed to keep it under the limit, it'll be one mod!
Nearing completion, I just have to do a few texture and add a few bits. I had to completely redo some engine sounds as I wanted to use custom sounds from RyanCookie's wentward 5000 mod but he said he wanted to keep the sounds for a possible future project so I had to completely redo all of the ones I used from him while waiting for his reply. My fault for jumping the gun a little bit. Had to go back and source/record other ones. For the 45 engines 28 of those are the Belasco 65 and 80 series, either of these series is selectable as one part in the engine slot, and a new configuration slot will enable you to choose which config you want (v6, v8 etc..). Much needed to de-clutter parts selection. The size limit is not an issue as when the mod is compacted its falls just under that so it should be ok. --- Post updated --- As you can see from screenshots I still have to (re)do engine textures and correctly mate some of them to the transmission.
Not going to give any dates but I'm very much doing finishing touches right now (for real this time haha). I've been fine tuning all the sounds in engine audio debug. 3d models of engines are ready, but not fully mated to stuff like intakes, exhausts and turbos. Remains to be seen how far I will go with this as it might take a lot of mesh and jbeam editing to do so considering intake, turbo, exhaust meshes are not linked to the engine jbeam but other to parts. You have to tell beamng the correct component mesh to use depending on the engine type, which is something that the devs have done for the new v8 engine, up till then I did not know how to do it nor if it even was possible. Last thing I was going to try and do was a supercharger, and off road airbag suspension (leaf spring ones already done and working). The rest of the mod is pretty much done apart from that. Should not be very long until release.
