I'm no Mustang purist or V8 nut, nor do I have anything against FWD, but that's absolutely horrifying. Cool, but horrifying.
There is a story to go with that mustang. To me, the idea of a front drive mustang like that is genuinely interesting as a one off build. But its a 110hp engine from an escort, to me, a complete waste of effort to use that as your donor engine. It could have been more, alot more. Just as a heretical car build though, I love it.
drop a k24 in it. now its 4 cyl and faster than the v8. hopefully that gets a rise out of the v8 lovers.
Doubt the k24 would be any faster than the v8 without modding. But would definitely be a better choice than that 110hp unit they're using. Hell use the transmission from a CRV and a custom prop shaft, probably have to hunt down a new rear diff with different ratio, AWD mustang.
with a bit of work it will triple the output of that poor mustang engine. 350bhp will get that car moving nicely. your doing the swap might as well build it right? thats a long term goal for my honda build. 4wd drivetrain swap with a nice 6262 turbo. make about 650 awhp and just go around beating up on supercars for fun.
I'll admit it's a pretty interesting build, but it lost all of it's coolness when he said that it was a Mustang "done right". I bet it's slow as sin. It probably handles decently if you can ever get up to speed.
Don't blame us, I see American plates on that thing... But I agree with this; TBH I don't really like the idea of an i4 (especially with this little power) in a classic Mustang not to mention FWD only. Then again, you could modify the V8 to make even more power than a modified K-whatever...
that's why I laughed so much. We were taking in discord about how to piss you off the most your lucky, we couldn't find similar done to a Vic
that mustang wont do 100 mph. not without a runway and a tail wind. Inline 4 for life hurting feelings and trolling forums since the late 80s. id take a p71 over that mustang with any engine in it. the crown vic is growing on me.
Mine isn't... still haven't gotten it to pass inspection. Its needed a lot more work than I originally thought. not to much left to do though.
i know what thats like my friend. my first engine swap was a disaster. somewhere in the harness there must have been a short because it kept throwing a nonsense code related to electronic load and even tho it ran well i couldn't pass inspection. i went broke before i could finish it and ended up scrapping the project after pulling off the decent parts. don't give up.
