Funny story, well it was funny for me. Back in high school I was riding with a buddy of mine in his Duramax, and our friend Thomas decided to see what his 7.3 Ford was like next to it, Now Drew's Duramax wasn't exactly stock, It was pushing about 650 HP to the wheels, But Thomas didn't know that. Thomas's Ford Drew's Duramax So they lined up on a little road in Greene county, and It was going to be just the first one to where the power lines went over the road, about 1/3 a mile from where we were. Thomas got a better launch, and Drew let him keep it for a little while, then he put his foot down and freight trained him. Thomas didn't even stop. Apparently he didn't even slow down when he reached town. The next day we learned that he got stopped just outside town, and had to spend a night in jail for doing 140 MPH in a 45 zone.
Could you put it on the back of the rear vision mirror, that would work well if it has a wide enough FOV.
If im in the right lane it might go good on my roof looking directly left. Wont see faces or number plates, but you'll be able to see who pulls on who. Get a nice view of these other cars slowly walking away from mine. If the footage is good enough ill ask someone here to do a quick edit to remove anything identifiable. I will be hiring a professional driver, and all racing will be done on sanctioned nhra/fia closed courses, and NOT on the long island expressway which is also located in northern mexico.
I've raced lights against Scion TC's with fart cans and D15 Honda's that have been slammed. Having a completely stock V6 Mustang, I do pick my fights a tiny bit... Except for the time I somehow won against an Infiniti Q30. Kid probably realized he was driving his dad's car or something, because there's no way in hell my car is faster.
Went Canadian car spotting today...Found 3 vehicles I think were interesting. Firstly, here is a Mazda Tribute with a license plate that may be referencing Gabe the Dog, since it said BORK-888. I'm sure @Fen would like the Tribute's license plate. Such a fitting name too, Mazda Tribute. Yep, Toyota Celicas exist in southwestern Ontario. I believe this Celica is a 2000-2004 Celica GT (ZZT230) in Absolutely Red. Not really digging the black rims though, but someone might think they accent the car. It could very well have the 1.8L 1ZZ-FE I4 engine in it though. I think I see a clone of @Potato's daily driver P71 Crown Vic. Same colour as his, down to the black trim. To be honest, in southwestern Ontario, you might be able to buy a ex-police P71 Crown Vic for the good price of around $5,000 (CAD) more or less. These photos were taken in the student parking lot of a high school.
Knowing amarks, I figured it'd be a mountain run, not a drag race, so I was saying stay out of the frickin' oncoming. With a highway pull, there's a lot less chance of that, but apparently people have managed to screw up highway pulls and head-on traffic anyway (to be fair, they were driving much more powerful RWD cars, but still).
Chuck, I wish I knew people who would do mountain runs with me. The highways inside the actual city are fun but you need to be able to outgun a 350hp charger to be "safe" from interception. Google the sawmill parkway from NYC going out to exit 21+. County Cops all have slower vics and ford suvs. I'd totally blow a grand on suspension if and when I find others down to turn like that. For now it's literally drag or be alone. --- Post updated --- I had a dream just now. pulled up to a stop light with an m3 and an m4. The m3 jumps the red and gets pulled over. I stopped at the next light and asked the driver of the blue vynal wrapped m4 to roll his window down. I yell at him "let's go back for your friend man!" He goes follow me. Now the adrenalin hits and I know what's about to happen. We go around the block and see the m3 and we both take off past the cops doing well over twice the limit. I get in front of the m4 and we hit the turn lane to make the left onto the on ramp and blow the light. I go flat out from second and as we hit the hiway I'm into third. The m4 is behind me as I'm nearing the top of third. I power shift into 4th as I hit the limiter and half way thru 4th he makes his move and opens the beamer up. At this point were doing about 120 and I'm into fifth. At this time I look out my rear window and of course no cops, but I don't lift. The m4 walks for a whIle and I'm still pinned hard, watching the speedo creep past 130mph. I see him way ahead now, take an exit wich happens to be the one near my house so I take it too and we go our separate ways. No idea what happened to the m3, but I know I just had the best 3 minutes of my month. New top speed record of 137~ indicated. Of course it was all a dream and I woke up dissapointed.
I went to the Knoxville Auto Show yesterday, saw lots of neat things, but what stuck with me most is the Fiat 124 Spider. Why isn't anyone talking about this thing? It's awesome. I noticed it sitting among the small group of 500s in Fiat's little display, never seen it or heard anything about it before then. You have to see this thing in person to really appreciate it. It's tiny. I popped the hood and discovered some sort of turbocharged i4. It's great, like a Miata done right. Pretty sure the display model was an auto, which is pretty lame, but surely it's offered with a manual. Ford had the new Expedition there, it's ugly and bland both on screen and in person.
Well, that's cause it is a miata, just with a fiat engine and the last gen miata gearbox. The interiors are pretty much identical. I am pretty sure they are built in Mazda's factory (with engines shipped in from fiat). Personally I think I would go for the mazda simply because it has a 2l NA engine rather than a 1.4 turbo. Gives you space to put a turbo on in the future if you want more power.
Personally I think Engineering Explained's reviews were the best since he did direct comparisons between the two stating what each was good for. Supposedly the Miata is more fun and the fiat is more of a cruiser. Worth mentioning that he owns an S2000, so keep that in mind
Well, while it would have been nice for it to be a separate vehicle platform just for the sake of more choice being a miata underneath is hardly a bad thing. Most people seem to be in agreeance that the miata is a fantastic drivers car. The most experience I have with one is in Assetto Corsa so take my thoughts with a grain of salt but I found it to be the most controllable car in the game, equally even when I totally screw something up it never seems to be beyond the point of recovery. It is also incredibly predictable to drive which is really nice. As someone who has a drivers license but no car it is one of the few cars in assetto corsa that I feel I would be comfortable jumping into in real life for a drive down a mountain road at a moderate pace (fun Sunday drive as opposed to pushing it), simply because its so forgiving yet fantastic to drive. The car is very gradual in how difficulty increases with speed and even over the limit it is still somehow controllable. This is unlike say a Lotus Elise which is also an absolute blast but can sometimes snap when pushed over the limit due to the nature of being mid engined. Which has put many an Elise in a ditch in Assetto Corsa for me when I try to push very hard (at an unsustainable pace). I should probably add that I don't drive on race tracks in Assetto Corsa. For me it is a mountain road simulator. Since I only play the hill climb/ rally stages. However, and this is a big however. The amount of hype surrounding MX5's is enough to make me less inclined to aim towards getting one at some point in life. Call me a hipster if you like but the car is too idolised for me to really want one even if they are an absolute dream to drive.
So I've just learned of a derby class that I'v never heard of before, and damn, I want to try it. It's called the 5 ft class, and having read several rules and regs sheets from several different derbies, they all same damn near the same thing, and heres a copied and pasted example. "BUILD: • As long as the vehicle looks like a car from 5-ft. away it passes. This is a heavily modified class for cars that do not meet the Fullsize Car Kicker class." OR Do whatever you want, just so long as it still looks like a car from 5 feet away. Here's a picture of an unfinished 5 ft class late 50's-early 60's Ford wagon
I thought I recognized that truck the the video popped up in my recommended feed. Kind of a bummer to roll a nice truck like that but at least the damage wasn't bad.
