But you wouldn't want to own one. My uncle bought a 2005 DeVille DTS brand new. Great car, but literally the day after the warranty expired, the water pump let go, and changing the water pump involves pulling the engine, and since it's fwd, that means pulling the transaxle and sub frame too. $5000 bill. Then 6 months later it lost a head gasket, which also involved pulling the front half of the car off. A week later it was sold off. That car was a dream to drive, and if it would have had an LS and been rear wheel drive, it would have been one of the few newer cars I'd genuinely want to own. (I know the newer Caddys are LS and RWD, but they're all repugnantly ugly)
tbh I think the newest CTS-V looks absolutely fantastic, In my opinion it is the 2nd best looking Caddy of all time. The 59' Eldorado wins every time.
Supposedly the northstar is a bit of an overrated engine, in the sense that it's way too over-complicated for the kind of performance it puts out (i.e. the LS beats it in every single way especially reliability wise)
May be getting a VE SV6 Holden commodore, later this year. Is there anything to watch for with them? (timing belt, etc.)
First coat done, probably do the rest tomorrow.. Turned out pretty decent, first time using a spray gun
I've heard of problems with every Commodore model except the VE/VF, they are pretty fantastic cars. No issues to speak of really.
That's a VP Commodore (1992 model), old mate over here is talking about a VE (06-13 model). Impressive driving by the Civic but if you're going to throw shade, get it right
I will throw shade. All I know from watching Adelaide and the mount panorama race is that those holdens are bitching fast, and sound better than anything else with a v8. I'm still shocked at Jordan cox's performance in that eg civic. His fight with Chris Brown's ultra fast levin at Adelaide was almost unprecedented. Seeing a light weight rwd legend in a higher class with much more power running scared from the little Honda was just epic. FF can hang. Honestly that's my new favorite racing category by a long shot. Australia gets motor racing it seems, and from now on I won't be told otherwise. Give the people what they want. IMPROVED PRODUCTION Edit: cox posted the Adelaide fight against the levin. What a scrap. That Toyota is super fast.
Sure, but they weren't competing in the same class even. The civic still won the under 2 liter class, and gave a 3sgte levin a run for it's money. Not a bad days work for a little b20 powered civic.
I've seen those Improved Production videos lately and I have to wonder, why is coverage of that kind of racing so hard to come by in the US? We already have the sanctioning bodies, similar classes, racetracks, etc. but no one except the organizers and participants seems to care very much, at least in the mainstream.
amarks240 is a Honda fan? Oh don't be ludicrous, that'd be like calling me a Holden fan. No evidence to support either.
Chicken and egg I guess. In order to gain popularity it will need more coverage, in order to gain more coverage it will need to be more popular. While coverage would likely be nice its probably worth enjoying it as it is, since from what people seem to say here it hasn't been given the American mainstream TV treatment yet.
