Honda/FWD fanboying at it's extremes, amazing how close minded you can be if you are obsessed with something. I have no issue with FWD at all, I see plenty of benefits in areas, such as fuel economy, simplicity (sometimes) and lower cost. However defending it to the teeth is quite ridiculous, a FWD car simply isn't as fast as a RWD car is going to be. I see no top fuel FWD cars, but I see RWD top fuel cars. I'll admit I've never owned or driven a FWD car, but it isn't my preferred option for racing.
That's fair enough. I'm setting mine up to have a boring rear end so I can push the front end with a clear conscious on shit roads. I'm fine with people not liking fwd, but not when it's justified with outdated foolishness. Just be like nah I don't like it. Thats your deal. I proved they can kick ass you can keep hating fwd because you drive a shitty Corolla. I drove one for a year I know they suck ass. My stock civic hatch sucked ass. Fun is in the eye of the person having it???
Corolla's aren't shitty, they're fun if you want to hammer the living shit out of it in a jungle, they are also perfect for rallying.
Look who's finally seen what I've been trying to say. Congratulations, would you like a prize? --- Post updated --- Hiss, you can't post that AE86 here! It's RWD, are you MAD?!?!?!?!
I guess there is no point arguing with a brick wall, by the way you hate anything that isn't your glorious FWD I'm guessing you haven't had much experience with a good RWD or AWD/4WD car. Not just any RWD or AWD car, but a GOOD one. Let me ask you this, can a FWD car: Drift? Properly drift without blocks under the rear wheels? Do a decent burnout? Not a static one, one with a tip-in and actual movement? Do donuts in a forward gear without understeering and one-wheel peeling?
Grab your mr2 than and we'll go have some fun. Mufflers optional. I've always been cool with preference. Just don't deride my chosen platform. You never see me here talking shit on rwd cars, only defendjng cars. Only ever defending. --- Post updated --- No just my sister's 2004 model I drove my first year driving. It was a 14.5 second car. No one believed me until I told them that was to 60.
I was a Porsche mechanic for 18 months. I've driven everything from a 1959 356 to a 997 gt3 3.8 and every damn one in between. Limited slip diff. Both wheels spin.
Shame my wheel isn't working, would be fun to make video about how differently FWD and RWD does a corners. RWD is like brake, then accelerate. FWD is like, brake, then accelerate very little, but kinda brake and quite late you can accelerate without plowing straight. AWD is like, just throw it sideways and keep throttle down, flawless victory
You like what you like, I'll probably never own a FWD if I can help it. Does that mean no one else should either? (Yes I know I could get very political with that) Drive what makes you happy.
@amarks240 How many of those porsches do you get to drive? In other news, have you had any experience with this model honda prelude? Saw one go past me last night on the way home so i tried to chase him, i was going at a decent speed but he was gone.
The only 1973 Cadillac DeVille in the Philippines is selling for a 190,000. https://www.olx.ph/item/1973-cadillac-sedan-deville-ID7LSlH.html?h=d7e34b067b
I got to drive a fair bit of them. Most of the time it was short hops, but occasionally I'd have to take another tech to drop one off to a customer at home. Those were the fun trips. The shop mostly did older 911s so mostly ones from the 70s and 80s. The watercooled (99 and up) are bentlys compared to The older ones. The newer boxters were the most nimble, and the fastest one I drove was a 997 turbo with the larger gt2 turbos on it. Only time my boss ever told me to be careful in a car. My favorite as a driver was a really nice 924s. 944 engine in the lighter 924 chassis. The gt3 was absurdly stable. It pushes The front before it comes close to breaking the rear on an off ramp even at full throttle. Stay away from any non turbo or gt3 911 from 99 and up. The base models and s models got what was pretty much an Audi engine and they all suck ass. Few make it to 50k miles before the cylinder walls are scored to shit. We send at least a dozen engine cases out to be redone while I worked there. Air cooled are bullet proof. And also the owners of older Porsches are mostly dickheads. So anal about the dumbest shit. We had to send a windshield back to Germany because it came with the wrong windshield sticker. I loved working on the cars but the industry bullshit made me give it up and just work on my own. Like sex, the passion dies when money is involved.
I guarantee it would be monumentally cheaper to buy a $7500 Cadillac here and ship it to the Philippines.
Until you realize you have to be a Filipino and a returning overseas worker to import a car that you can't sell after it's imported.
Both of my daily drivers have been RWD and my Focus is the only FWD I've ever owned. FWD is better for REALLY tight stuff. That car is SO much fun to rip around parking lots. Previous owner put new shocks and springs front and rear before I bought it so it handles amazingly. MKI Ford Focus are very fun cars. It's an excellent platform for an economy car. 150hp/2500lbs/5-speed makes for a fun little combo. I could understand the hatred for FWD if the only thing you'd ever driven was an automatic Toyota Corolla. Corollas are good for a soul sucking commute but you're not going have fun doing it. A well tuned FWD can be just as fun as anything else. There's a reason people almost universally refer to Fiesta/Focus ST brothers when someone asks for a spirited daily driver.
