I'm not against that idea, it's just that Neons and Cavaliers and Escorts are easier to come by.
This wouldn't be for a derby car by the way, If I were to build a compact derby car, I'd use a Volvo 240, no question.

Yeah we looked into the Chrysler Grand Voyager, it is more expensive though (and we aren't car snobs :p) hmm I would say the Renault Espace (mk4) was the safest, but isn't on sale anymore so doesn't count. Yep a lighter more fuel efficient MPV would be better :p my dad has a Renault Espace MK4 (2.0 170hp) and it scoots along quickly and is reasonably efficient

Get what you can source locally I guess. Around me i see many more 90s hondas than all three of those combined, but that might not be the case in your neck of the woods. Every time I see an old Honda with rust on it I help but think "you deserve a better sendoff than the crusher in a few years". Whatever you end up with, don't let it turn into your beer cans before it looks like a crushed beer can. Take this guy for example. Actual race car. You got the balls to bump draft this guy, respect.

looks cool with nice patina and for $500 you could drop a crate motor in it and it still wouldn't be more than a few grand

Turns out that I am old, I had no idea that 7 years had passed since the current gen Sharan came out...
So yeah, 2015 espace is currently king of safety, unless you have Volvo XC90 money laying around.

I want to find some dirt roads like the one they were trying to drift at 38-55 seconds. Only dirt roads you can find here are 3 metres wide and either surrounded by trees, a ditch or a 5+ metre drop.

You and me both brother. I'd be turning my crx into a rally covet if that was the case. Looks like hillclimbing is as close as it gets for now. Or just cruising for burgers.

Roads like that aren't a common thing? I can think of over 10 right now, I've got one not a mile from my house that goes almost 16 miles down to the river, some spots it's soft gravel, but most of it is hard packed dirt.

Every vehicle I've ever owned has been sideways on that road, as well as most of my friends vehicles. I

Me and a friend have even had the police after us on a road identical to it in Mexico.

I have no doubt there are some epic ones out there, i just haven't had the time in 4 months of having my p's to go out just to look for them or even find then on Gmaps and know how to get there.
There is a nice road near me called corkscrew road (cool name right) its nice and windy, fun just to keep it in 2nd gear and floor it out of the corners. The video is from the top of Corkscrew and at nighttime, its quiet so you can drive like dick, using both lanes

And there is a little bit more road after it as well, the 4 switchbacks are super fun though, might go for a drive through it tonight if it stops raining.

That's super close quarters. Suits my car very well. I'm more afraid of hitting a deer than wrecking in the sticks any other way. Had to check the brakes today and I wasn't doing 110 in 40. I was doing 40 in a 40 with mom next to me. She inhaled so hard from sheer fear, my ears almost popped from the drop in air pressure in the car. Hitting a 3 to 500 pound animal at speed in a Honda isn't a very good setup to begin with. My friend hit a black bear in his 97 accord. The bear tumbled a good ways a way and got up and looked at him. The bear sat there for 30 seconds trying to figure out what happened and than walked into the darkness without so much as a limp. The accord became an accordian. Best part? He had 3 wasted fraternity brothers as passengers and none of them were being helpful.

I've only hit one deer, though I'm the exception, most people I know have taken out at least 5.

Corkscrew is also just off of gorge road, (infamous for motorbike rider deaths).

Its fun to drive but in a FWD car anywhere above the 80kmh speed limit you really need to be careful of oversteer on the crests. Would be so fun to race through in something RWD or atleast something with a bit of power.
Start of corkscrew road is at 6:25.

By "windy" I meant curvy, though wind is an issue here too; in any case, it's the two-lanes I'm worried about. That, also, is why I brought up the combination's acceleration. People who accelerate really slowly away from lights are some of the most annoying on the road. You don't need to squeal tires every time, but when the speed limit is 45 MPH and it takes you a good half a mile to not quite get there, you're doing something really wrong.

    That is 100% not decent.

Never cut double yellows (or whatever your country's equivalent is) on an open road, no matter how quiet it is. Sometimes it happens accidentally due to a worn-off center line or something, but crossing on purpose for speed is just wrong.

Did you censor the word dick in the quote? Dicks dicks dicks.

I've been driving the tarboh 240 and fixing its little issues. Today I looked into the AC and it's a faulty thermostat. I'll just rip it out and replace it with a switch for now. Also took off the eBay BOV since it was leaking. Etc. It's a dang hoot. Pulls hard as heck all the way to the limiter, whereas the stock 86 240DL just goes mnnnneeeeeehhhhhhh after like 4-5k. Locker makes for some fun in the rain too.

Speaking of the locker.. I spun out after going through a roundabout at about 35 over and almost hit another car last week. Not one of my proudest moments.

Genuine or replica? I'd imagine even wrecked examples would require you taking out a second mortgage.

It's a clone, but I know a guy who might be buying a real one (he also has a real superbird) there's a decent chance that I'll get to do some bodywork on the cars too :)
